Kenyan Atheists Protest Proposal to Ban Porn Sites in Kenya

Atheists in Kenya (AIK) society has dismissed calls by Education CS Prof. George Magoha to bar Kenyans from accessing pornography sites.

On Thursday, CS Magoha said pornographic sites were to blame for the high cases of teen pregnancies in the country and vowed to push for the amendment of the law to block Kenyans from watching porn on the internet.

“You see when you are not thinking about sex but someone opens a pornographic page then you start thinking about it and generating ideas. Why is that site accessible in Kenya? Who needs it?” said Magoha.

“Don’t tell us because it is accessible in the US that it should be accessible here. There many countries in Africa and Asia that have blocked it and their culture is better.”

But in a statement on Friday, Kenyan atheists through their leader Harrison Mumia said blocking porn sites is not a solution to the problem of teenage pregnancies.

“We would like to inform CS Magoha that watching pornography is not the reason we are having many cases of teenage pregnancy in the country,” Mumia noted.

“Teenagers are getting pregnant because they are having unprotected sex. That is the only way to get pregnant.”

The group further argued that teen pregnancies were still there even before the invention of the internet.

“The CS should know that teenage pregnancies started way before free porn became available on the internet in the early 2000s.”

The nonbelievers said the problem can be solved by introducing safe sex education in schools.

“The solution lies in teaching about safe sex as soon as children are mature enough to know what sex is. Sex education should be introduced in grade 4 or 5,” the group added.

Ban the freaking website! He can to the streets and get a bicker for sex. He is a possessed devilish idiot! Yes I say he is a freaking self serving fool. Our kids deserve much better than having to deal with a decaying society.

Atheists are gay? That's your argument? Do you even understand what atheism is? Atheism is the act of telling a theist, I don't beleive you. It's funny to me for eg... a christian doesnt beleive in other religions such as hinduism, islam etc and the feeling is vice-versa mutual. In those cases the christian is being an atheist toward other religions. The only difference is that while a christian doesnt beleive in 3,999 religions an atheist doesnt beleive in just 1 more....read a book and do something useful

You're an idiot. Society is decaying because of people like you with your intolerant thoughts. There is only 1 solution...education. people have to learn about choices and consequences. For eg. If i am a jew/muslim and i dont eat pork, i dont ban others from eating it i exercise self control based on my values. Same with a hindu and beef.

Whether you are a believer or not, pornography is immoral. In most developed countries, watching ponograhy is illegal. Why would anyone think it's ok to have those sites open to everyone even to the young teen mind who will think "ooh this looks very cool and enjoyable" not knowing people who shot those videos are professional Actors who are paid big bucks to act. I support the CS to block all those money making sites which are created by people who can't sell them in their own countries because it's illegal. It's time for Africa to wake up from our brain washed mind and know not everything which is made in America or Europe is good for our consumption.

Pornography is not immoral. Abusing and taking advantage of minors and the poor is immoral. Which is something that religious clergy dont have a problem with.

You are wrong about most developed countries banning porn. Dont spread bad info.

Sex is a natural function and should be embraced. Educating people on safety is where the focus needs to be.

Everyone has choices to make with what they do. Forcing people to not have a choice is bad.

Good people will do good bad people will do bad. Just educate people

Porn is like a hand book of learning new tricks. Nobody is forcing u to watch n people need to understand teen pregnancy in Kenya is due to bad parenting n poor people having kids like rabbits that they cannot affored to take care of.

CS should be concentrating on Underage sex by the tourists all over Kenya. That's a bigger pandemic than porn sites.
What is needed is educating both parents and their children...but how will that happen when the paliament wanted to lower the age ??
