Uhuru Allows Nairobi Metropolitan Chief Mohamed Badi to Sit in Cabinet Meetings
Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) director-general Mohamed Badi has been inducted to the Cabinet.
This comes after he took an Oath of Secrecy in a ceremony witnessed by President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi on Thursday. To be allowed to attend Cabinet Meetings or participate in the conduct of Cabinet business, one must take the oath.
Badi will henceforth attend all Cabinet meetings pursuant to the Executive Order No. 3 of 2020, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said in a statement.
"His Excellency the President this morning witnessed the taking and subscription to the Oath of Secrecy by Major-General Mohammed Abdalla Badi, the Director-General of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), a requirement of all persons who attend Cabinet Meetings or participate in the conduct of Cabinet Business."
"The Director-General shall henceforth attend all meetings of Cabinet and its Committees, pursuant to Executive Order No. 3 of 2020. The Ceremony conducted by the Head of the Public Service was a precursor to the Cabinet Meeting held at State House, Nairobi on this Tenth Day of September the Year of our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty," Dena said in the statement.
Uhuru appointed Badi as the director-general of NMS, which was formed in March this year to run the six key Nairobi County functions handed over to the national government by Governor Mike Sonko.
The functions are county health services, transport, public works, utilities, and ancillary services, and county government planning and development.
