Martha Karua Reads Mischief in Failure to Provide Kenyans with Copies of BBI Bill

Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has questioned the delay in printing copies of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill.

Karua said failure to avail copies of the document to Kenyans could be part of a scheme by BBI proponents to sneak in mischievous clauses ahead of the referendum.

“The independence constitution was mutilated multiple times by the ruling elite until it became unrecognizable, the 2010 constitution is similarly under threat of being cannibalized through unconstitutional means,” Karua said through Twitter.

“One of the reasons copies of the proposed constitutional amendments bill are not being availed we suspect is to facilitate sneaking in of mischievous clauses as the referendum approaches.”

The Senior Counsel further indicated that the country is experiencing many challenges such as hunger and broken health and education systems, stating that BBI cannot be a priority.

“Millions of Kenyans are hungry and at risk of starvation if adequate measures are not taken urgently. This is one priority where we must direct all available resources not to mention our broken health and education systems,” Karua said.

She noted that it is unconstitutional for promoters of BBI to expect Kenyans to pass the Bill without reading it.

“Expecting people to endorse what they have not seen is not only a violation of the constitution but also usurpation of people’s voice and power to make informed choices.”

Kenya will head to referendum by June this year after more than 24 county assemblies endorsed the BBI Bill, surpassing the constitutional threshold. So far, 42 assemblies have passed the Bill while two—Baringo and Nandi—rejected it.

Google the definition of aristocracy! Kenya is one. This BBI thing is way too expensive and will only benefit those at the top.

@larry - what is the marginal propensity in regard to the expensive cost of the BBI as you wish to put it? And where do you grade yourself in this googled aristocracy you are throwing out to sound like a technocrat rat - low, middle, or top of your un-graduated measuring rod?

Martha karua i believe you have a copy of the said bbi document which you pupport that not every kenyan has received a copy. With your high positioning in the society as a leader and a lawyer who is not a miser why dont you take the initiative of finding those copies of bbi and be providing to those you think dont have it instead of giving us empty donkey farts.

No, no @Julias njau. You're very wrong on this one. Billions of shillings of our taxes were spent by BBI committee loitering around the nation capturing the wananchi's opinion on the BBI. If Martha Karua come up with copies of BBI report, they can claim that she is giving people fake BBI reports. Besides, the duty to pass on the authentic final report to the people rests with the proponents/sponsors of BBI.

Karua is a major part of all the problems Kenyans have lived through for several years. As a fake lawyer cam conny politician, she is now talking a good game to hoodwink the same Kenyans she has deceived over the past several years. History has already judged Karua wrong on everything she initially stood for, and she is no longer the “Iron Lady” for the poor! She is merely out there for herself (me, myself and I kind of thing), and to maintain some unknown relevance with the system!

Interestingly the BBI referendum signature forms made it the most remote villages in Kenya at warp speed. Martha and Kenyans of goodwill have reason to worry. Kwanini BBI report inafichwa? What are they hiding from the masses?
