Pandora Papers: Leaked Records Expose President Uhuru Family's Secret Offshore Accounts

President Kenyatta’s family has been mentioned in a new investigation that exposed how wealthy individuals used offshore tax havens to hide assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The exposé dubbed the Pandora Papers is based on documents leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ), a network of reporters and media organizations.

Aided by more than 600 journalists from 150 media outlets, ICIJ examined 11.9 million confidential files leaked to it from 14 offshore services companies from around the world.

The documents were linked to over 330 politicians and public officials, including 35 current and former national leaders in more than 91 countries.

President Kenyatta and six members of his family secretly owned a network of 11 offshore companies, according to records. One of the companies was found to be holding assets worth US$30 million (Sh3.31 billion).

Leaked records named President Uhuru and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta as beneficiaries of a secretive foundation in Panama.

Uhuru’s brother and two sisters allegedly own five offshore companies with assets worth more than $30 million, the investigation reveals.

“Kenyatta and his family did not reply to requests for comment,” ICIJ says in the report.

ICIJ noted that the Kenyatta family began to accumulate much of its offshore wealth before Uhuru became President in 2013.

Records from Panamanian law firm Aleman, Cordero, Galindo & Lee (Alcogal) showed that the Kenyatta family “owned at least seven such entities, two registered anonymously in Panama and five in the British Virgin Islands.”

“One BVI company owned a home in central London, according to the records, and two other companies held investment portfolios worth tens of millions of dollars,” ICIJ says.

The report shows that the accumulation of the wealth in offshore companies by the Kenyattas dates back to when the late President Moi was still in power.

Records show that in 2003, a Union Bancaire Privée lawyer Othmane Naïm asked Panama offshore specialists to help register a new foundation, to be known as the Varies Foundation.

“The foundation, like a trust, was designed to manage and shelter wealth for its beneficiaries. Draft bylaws, also from July 2003, name the foundation’s beneficiaries: Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother,” the report says.

Union Bancaire Privée also helped manage a foundation for Uhuru’s brother, Muhoho.

“Invoices from Alcogal in Panama to the bank show that the Swiss advisers referred to the Kenyattas with a code: “client 13173.”” ICIJ says in its report.

Kenya is being strangled in debt.
As Kenya owes foreign nations, our so called "leaders" are busy stealing and taking the money out of the country.
As they take our resources out of the country:
1. They start selling our kids into modern day slavery ( selling them to the highest bidder- to our former colonizers as nurses)
2. They open our gates to foreigners even when those foreigners call us " Shit hole" countries- because our so called "leaders" money is in those foreign nations.
3. Our children die in Arab countries looking for better pastures ( because better pastures in our country) have been stolen by our so called " leaders".
4. We have homeless kids who cannot afford one meal a day because so called "leaders" stole their present and their future.
5. Our police are killing and stealing from the common mwananchi because they are not paid enough because their so called "leaders" have stolen our resources.
6. Killing education in Kenya by overcharging students to make up what they have stolen or to be able to stash more money in foreign nations.
7. Allowing foreign banks to overcharge our citizens because our so called "leaders" cannot say no- they have money stashed in foreign nations.
8. On and on....
Our so called " leaders" need to understand you cannot serve to masters.
How do our so called " leaders " expect the citizens to be patriotic when they themselves are not?
How do the so called "leaders" expect the citizens to listen to them when they cannot be trusted?
Since " independence"? It's time to change course- Luckily change is season is around the corner.
This time we do not have to lift a finger.
As we are all witnessing now, it's time for revelation. More will be revealed and no one has control over the information that is coming out.
All oppressors past and present will be revealed.
We just need patience!! All our so called " leaders " need to be exposed because soon the will say goodbye and retire.
We pray and hope for a leader whose name we do not know. One who will be guided by something other than money, hoarding and materialism. Someone who has more value for life.

Uhuru said that he will explain why he has family fortunes"hidden" offshore. Let us give him that opportunity.Mindful that offshore banking in by itself is not illegal.And folks, let us also be carefully when using the term "hiding" in investment context.Having said this, it is common knowledge that these offshore investments,and banking are used for tax evasion,and of course hedging your investments, mainly because of not having faith in your government and economic stability.
Now if your leader cannot have faith in his own government or is afraid that the economy will collapse,then he is not fit to be a leader.

As I've said before, I grew up in close proximity to these kinds. They actually believe the proceeds to be due to hard work(it is, just not theirs) and will never admit to thievery. If you caught them in the bank vault stealing they'd probably say they were testing the bank's security. Many are very skilled at money laundering and by the 2nd and 3rd gen all the businesses are legit making tracing impossible and their names will be respectable - think America's robber barons. When you think of Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, or a Rhodes scholarship, the names are respectable, the founders and benefactors, not so much.

I had written once here and I will repeat.
JOMO KENYATTA was corrupt. First he stole the first 7 million given by the British to the MAU MAU, thus NGEI selling the first batch of maize.
Moi perfected corruption, that's why his inner circle became BILLIONAIRES.
KIBAKI came, but wouldn't do anything because his family is also corrupt and deals drugs.
UHURU came, and having graduated from Mois campus started eating like there is no tomorrow.
The issue here is that the west has and will keep protecting all our corrupt African leaders, it's a way of the west exerting their power. Divide and rule is the game.
Africa is the only CONTINENT that can be self SUFFICIENT.
IF ONLY WE STOOD TOGETHER, AFRICA COULD BE THE BIGGEST SUPERPOWER EVER.
But MENTAL ENSLAVEMENT AND GREED STILL PLAYS A BIG ROLE.
