State House has led Kenyans in sending warm birthday messages to retired President Mwai Kibaki as he turned 90 on Monday.
Kibaki, who was born in Othaya, Nyeri County in 1931, served as Kenya’s fourth president between 2002 and 2013. It is during his reign that the country realized unprecedented economic growth.
“Your Excellency, we wish you God’s continued providence as you celebrate your 90th birthday today Mr. President. Happy and blessed birthday Hon. Mwai Kibaki, the 3rd President of the Republic of Kenya,” State House wrote.
Kenyans and political leaders hailed Kibaki as the best president the country has produced, citing his exceptional leadership and dedication towards the transformation of the country.
Deputy President William Ruto tweeted, “Happy 90th birthday to the third President, Mwai Kibaki. Your legacy lives on.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said, “Whatever different views people across our country have, it is clear that the vast majority share the opinion that Mwai Kibaki served our Nation with unparalleled dedication, a clear sense of public service and duty. Happy 90th birthday President Mwai Kibaki.”
Musalia Mudavadi wrote, “Happy 90th Birthday to H.E. former President of the Republic of Kenya Mwai Kibaki. Your exceptional leadership and direction are exactly what this generation should try to emulate.”
