Kamiti Prison Escapees Airlifted to Nairobi, to Face Fresh Charges

Three terror convicts who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison will face fresh charges following their arrest on Thursday.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i says the three will be arraigned alongside nine Kamiti prison officers suspected to have aided their escape.

The three: Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda (34), Joseph Juma Odhiambo (30) and Mohammed Ali Abikar (35) busted out of the highly guarded detention facility at around 1:00 an on Monday morning.

They are said to have removed a brick on the wall of their cell then used blankets, strings and broomsticks to make improvised ropes that they used to scale two high walls around the prison.

The escapees were smoked out from their hideout in Enzio Forest in Mwingi, Kitui County following a tip-off from members of the public. It is suspected that the three were planning to cross over to neighboring Somalia.

They were briefly held at Mwingi Central Police Station before being flown to Kamiti Prison, where they were received by CS Matiang’i and top security officers.

“The 3 escapees are back to Kamiti. I am grateful to Kenyans and the multi-agency team for the good work. Our security personnel are on high alert, let us all remain vigilant,” Matiangi tweeted.

And please, stop keeping such prisoners in the same area of prison. That's how they hatch plans, then make a break through the rotten prison system of corrupt individuals.

That was quick. I guess they could run but could not hide. Wish all the criminals could be apprehended this quickly. Tired of hearing "still at large". Lakini hii mambo ya inmates kutoroka toroka prison na cell hovyo hovyo is worrying. Guess y'all need to overhaul some departments and fire those sleeping at work.

Those jailers who let terrorists go free from jail should be tried with abetting terrorism. They want people attacked and killed by these murderous thugs just because of money. Follow the money and you will see why they too acted like terrorists.

It's not hard to see what's going on in our institutions! 3 Prisoners escape a highly guarded prison, members of public reckon they're escapees, they don't part ways while outside of prison, officer in charge at prison is almost immediately replaced by a military man, a few scapegoats to appear in court for abetting their escape,c'mon! I think I've seen this movie before! Ask me how it ends!

Prisoners and wardens live same crappy lifestyle until they become comrades. They look alike. Give wardens better pay.
