Police Officer Kills Wife and Five Civilians in Kabete Before Turning Gun on Himself

A police officer in Kabete, Kiambu County on Tuesday morning shot and killed six people before turning the gun on himself.
Police Constable Benson Imbasi first killed his wife by shooting her in the neck at their home in Kabete at around 1:00 am. He then walked out of his house and started shooting at innocent civilians frenziedly using an AK47 assault rifle.
Among those who were killed in the 3:00 am shooting spree were three young men and a boda-boda rider at N market within Kabete. The three young men had just left a funeral preparations meeting for one of their loved ones at Mountain View before they were shot and killed by the rogue officer.
The officer then accosted another civilian and two boda-boda riders, with one of them losing his life while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
“The boda-boda rider had woken up early to first deliver loaves of bread at different shops which was his side hustle, before embarking on his daily routine of ferrying passengers,” reads a police report.
Two people, including one boda-boda rider, are currently admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital in critical condition. The officer later committed suicide by shooting himself in the neck.
Police recovered an AK47 rifle loaded with four rounds of ammunition and four empty cartilages. Investigations into incident have been launched.

Actually the Kabete in question - though neighboring Uthiru which is a part of Kiambu - is part of Nairobi, within Westlands' jurisdiction. It's sad to hear of this incident. The situation at hand is becoming an issue of pressing importance & lawmakers need to amend gun laws before taking their next trip benchmarking trip abroad.
