Congolese Senator Demands an Apology from William Ruto over Cow Remarks

Congolese Senator Francine Muyumba has castigated Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto over his remarks on the availability of livestock in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Speaking during a public engagement forum in Nyeri on Monday, Ruto urged residents to focus on milk production, saying there is a readily available market in the DRC, which has a population of over 90 million but has no cows.

"Tuko na soko kuanzia hapa DRC, hawa watu wako 90 million na hawana hata ng'ombe moja," Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency in the forthcoming elections was quoted as saying.

But his remarks did not sit well with a section of Congolese people including Senator Muyumba, who is also an activist. The Haut-Katanga senator demanded an apology from Ruto, terming his remarks as an insult to the people of DRC.

"Mr. Vice President William Ruto, this is really unacceptable, with all due respect there is a need to withdraw this statement. If DRC did not have a single cow how could Kenya sign economic deals with DRC, EquityBCDC is currently making money in Congo, this is an insult," Muyumba wrote.

She also called on the Kenyan deputy president to be diplomatically conscience, terming DRC as a friend of Kenya.

"We are friends to #KENYA, A candidate running for the highest office of the Country William Ruto need to be diplomatically conscience as KENYA needs to strengthen economic ties in the region for Kenya’s internal Economic growth. KenyaAirway is now flying in some of our big cities," Francine added.

Always taking comments out of context, all DP has stated is that Kenyans have opportunities in DRC. It was not an attack/insult on DRC.

I apologize on his behalf. Motema na ngai. Much bolingo from Kenya. DR Congo is paradise ready to feed and provide electric to all of Africa.

I'm all for non white God non white Jesus from middle East. A fool.says in his heart that there's no God. Everyone in hell believes in God but no exit to heaven.

@ Go crypto:

WaSwahili husema, "Baba wa Kambo si baba - Your stepfather is not your father."
When my traditional religious belief system was hacked and destroyed by the illegal European religious terrorists (missionaries) when they illegally occupied Kenya, I decided to design my own religious belief system as a " survivor" of the foreign religious holocaust. Why? I decided that my brain is not for any foreign religious hire, lease, or rent.

I respect a few of my Gikuyu brothers and sisters who were quick to challenge foreign religious indoctrination by sticking to their ancestral "Ngai - Mwene nyaga" and currently, some of them still pray to this Ngai while facing Kirinyaga (Mt. Kenya).

I believe in TIP BACAD (The Invisible Power Behind All Creations And Diversity). The work of TIP BACAD was completed the day that I was born. The gift of TIP BACAD is the "brain." If you don't protect it and use it for your advantage, other people will easily exploit your own brain and run your life for their personal and selfish motives. This is exactly what has happened to Africa.

I don't pray, belong to any religion. I am a strong believer in being a lifetime student and quick to learn while deleting the misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda that was part of the colonial education that we learned while under the British occupation.
On the other hand, I strongly believe our current curriculum should be dismantled completely and great emphasis put on studying MELTAS (Mathematics, engineering, languages, technology, agriculture, Sciences) subjects. This is what India, Korean, and China have successfully accomplished while maintaining their traditional religions, history, culture, and languages.

There is absolutely no reason why we should have foreign names, glorify foreign languages (while neglecting our ancestral languages) imitate foreign religions and cultures close to sixty years after achieving independence.

Thanks 4 answering. I disagree on God But agree on names, STEM, brain protection and devt. Japanese Chinese have done excellent while keeping culture intact. Black man is the only who who adopts culture wherever he goes. Internet is destroying our culture fast. Feminism and welfare is destroying family and black male completely. God made Adam b4 Eve and that's the order.

Only the weak apologizes. Strong leaders like Mr Trump and Mr Samoei DO NOT apologize; they clarify what they said without admitting fault

If Kenya can find a market for milk in DRC it's okay. The problem is how Ruto described them "watu wakuimba" very demeaning in my own opinion. Ruto was minister for agriculture and now going to almost ten years as deputy president why didn't he bring in this milk market idea on board.

For one who keeps whining about mistreatment I would hope he will take this opportunity to apologize.

He will never be president at least that is known for sure.

We can bet on this! The Kenyan voters are so gullible, tunneled visioned, have temporary amnesia during election coz right now UDA has gained momentum everywhere and at this rate he is going to win! Kenyans love corrupt thieves as their leaders.

I dont like Ruto because he is corrupt, but here I will defend him. I would take his hyperbolic words as merely an attention catching statement intended to drive home the open market statement. Anybody with half abrain wouldnot buy the notion that there is not even one cow in Congo. Infact this is more comical than stating that there are 1000 cows in Congo, and 10 moneys since many have been consumed...
This kind of banter is not what government officials should idle their time with...So chill out Monsieur Muyumba.Turn on some slow rumba by OK Jazz and relax.

Ali, that’s not what I said. I just commented that I see lots of wisdom coming from Maxiley.
And it’s not a problem if Ruto does not have both basic instinct and wisdom. Since you have snd think those are the qualities of a President, enlist to run for the seat as well.

He's the endangered macho man, stoic, strong spine, type A personality, go getter, strong willed, head strong, not a feminist, a true Adam. Powerful like Trump. Not a victim of kamwiti like 60 pc husband's.

Both you and me don’t know what Ruto implied when he said that. What I know for sure is he is so dumb to have meant it LITERALLY! Absolutely no figurative implication. There are so many examples like saying people in Taveta only know how to fish and ‘dont have any farms’ or do any farming’ asking folks in marakwet to go grab lands there and START farming? SMH. The Tavetas felt insulted. May be its time he stops this rhetorical ambiguity in his speeches coz its clear he doesnt know when and how to use such statements!!

In that case I also have to assume that he was quoted right. He could easily say that he was misquoted, and probably was.Anyway who would believe that people in Congo dont even have one cow? I am sure they have alot of business opportunities for interpreneurs, and business people to take advantage of,and that I agree with him.

That's it well said, after losing election we'll do dairy and poultry farming in DRC. This will make him the 2nd richest man in Africa Dagote.

Please remember to take all the cows and chickens with eggs with you.

Oh! one good money making machine is fish farming just in case you need to expand further....lol

Iam voting Ruto he may be the thief but he is better off than the other guy being fed on us by force by that guy president who seems to have no idea how his family got its riches. Of course that how he owns the land from thika To Nairobi and beyond of course he bought it from the Europeans before independence. I wish all of us can look at our family riches and ask a question how it was acquired. Most of us will be in shock to learn of historical corruption trickling down their veins but all you here I did not steal it was already there. Many rich kids in the eighties were getting high school fees paid through money meant for the poor and it still happens because their parents are connected but they say it’s morally right in their smart brains. Muichi amurikaga Uria ungi tondu ndeyonaga

Mwizi ni Yule Yule kutoka Sugoi! The Congolese don’t want a thief selling the stolen eggs and milk to them! They know Ruto is a big thief! They are justify to complain about Ruto because they know he is a thief!
