Man Who Drove President Uhuru to School Asks Kenyatta Family to Reward Him with Land and a Car
Robert Mugo Mboi, the man who was employed to drive President Uhuru and his siblings to school, is pleading with the family to reward him for his services.
Mugo, a resident of Gatumbi village in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, wants the family to give him a parcel of land and a car promised to him by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta before his death in 1978.
The 78-year-old retired GSU officer says he used to drop off and pick up Uhuru, his brother Muhoho and sister Nyokabi at St Mary’s School in Nairobi daily from Gatundu.
In an interview with Nation, the man expressed his desire to meet President Kenyatta to rekindle old memories and ask him to help his grandchildren, who are jobless.
"Kama ingewezekana tuonane hivi itakuwa vizuri Zaidi. I also have three grandchildren who are graduates but have no job. I would love to see them employed," Mugo told Nation.
Mugo says the last time he saw and met the president was during the election campaign in 2017.
"We met a Kianyaga. He asked me 'Have you met Mum?' I said 'I can't get there lest I be beaten. He told me, 'Give me your number.' The number was taken by his people and that got lost there," he added.
Mugo, who served as a GSU constable from 1966 to 1997, lives in a wooden structure with a cement foundation.

How did this story get to the media... Who called who?As much as I appreciate his sharing of personal relationship with the Kenyatta's,It would be unfair for all job seekers for his grand children to get employment based on his relationship with the president.Iam sure Mzee was paid for his services.However,if indeed he was promised apiece of land,I think Uhuru should own the promise.Hey throw in a car,or a truck for good measure.

One good thing I can see coming from this story is that the rich and powerful,might be persuaded to draft good retirement packages for their "lower class workers".My two cents.

Mugo Mboi, worked as a civil servant in KENYA, who was earning his wages and retired indefinitely getting his retirement package.
I have no issues if KENYATTA family wants to reward him or not.
But this should be a good LESSON to all working. PLAN ON YOUR RETIREMENT.
DON'T EXPECT TO BE REWARDED AFTER YOU RETIRE BY THE FOLKS WHO EMPLOYED YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN.
All of us know at least one person who squandered and ENJOYED their earnings but after retirement, they want help.
What we need to understand is that, HELP IS GIVEN FREELY NOT FORCED.
