Education CS Magoha Apologizes to Kenyans for Appearing to be Arrogant

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has apologized to Kenyans for appearing to be arrogant while at the helm of the ministry.

While thanking Kenyans for bringing out his good and bad traits, Magoha admitted that serving in his capacity was not easy, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that he had to take firm decisions.

"I want to thank you for having walked with me and having taken the good, the bad and the ugly side of me because that is a human being. There is nobody who is perfect, I believe that in order for me to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity it was purely by the grace of God," Magoha said during a media briefing on Wednesday.

He added: "It has not been easy being a CS for education during COVID and in order for me to move things forward I have been very firm and in between the firmness I have cracked certain jokes. I want to say without any fear of contradiction that if any of those jokes have gone to the wrong side, that was not the intention and my apologies to the general public about that."

Magoha acknowledged that he may have come off as arrogant and apologized to Kenyans, insisting that he has fulfilled his mandate.

“We are eagles and we fly high and we are not afraid. And we deliver. We deliver to the extent that even if you don’t like us as eagles, you can go and count what we have delivered. If during that process, we have looked like we are arrogant, then we seek your forgiveness but not that we are about to change. Eagles always keep on flying. Even when the eagle is going, he just disappears into the sky,” he said.

He spoke after commissioning phase two of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Embakasi, Nairobi.
