Woman Withdraws Attempted Rape Case Against President Ruto’s Cabinet Nominee Mithika Linturi

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary nominee Mithika Linturi has had an attempted rape case against him withdrawn by the complainant.

Linturi, a former Senator for Meru County, had been charged with attempting to rape a 36-year-old woman at Maiyan Villas Hotel in Nanyuki on January 30th, 2021.

The politician faced a second count of committing an indecent act with an adult contrary to section 11(A) of the Sexual Offences Act. The court heard that Linturi indecently touched the woman’s private parts without her consent.

Appearing in court in September 2021, Linturi pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or an alternative bond of Sh500,000.

The complainant told police that she had checked into Maiyan Villas Hotel in the company her husband and friends on January 29th this year. On that night, she retired to her room and left the door unlocked as her husband, who was still with their friends outside, was to join her later.

“At about 3 am she heard the door unlocked and since the lights were switched off she assumed it was her husband and the person got into her bed and started touching her in a very unusual manner,” the police report stated.

The woman said he told the man off though he did not say anything and that it continued for a while before they both fell asleep.

“Thirty minutes later she heard a knock on the door and went to open the door only to find her husband standing at the door prompting her to switch on the lights since she was confused who was in her bed whom she though was her husband,” the report added.

After switching the lights on, she was shocked to learn that there was a stranger in their bed and her husband raised alarm. The woman says the stranger was identified as Linturi.

“It was established that the senator was also a guest though booked in another villa no 5GML.”

I know sensationalism is the staple of news reporting but criminal cases involving the political class in Kenya are not worth our time. Nothing ever ever happens to the them. They are children of a "greater" God.

"...touching her in a very unusual manner". How unusual was it? And then they both feel asleep, just like that. Interesting times.

His previous rape case, with a different woman, the rape kit and all the evidence disappeared.

Prior to that his accuser, another woman dropped the charges.

Mithika Linturi is a serial rapist.

He will rape again & again & again.

Mob Justice seems to be the only thing that will stop him.

I guess the promise by the opposition to reject confirmation of elected, and nominees who have pending criminal cases is bearing fruits. The guilty are now scrambling to bribe their victims to withdraw cases.Shame.

The problem of letting this rapist go free is that it will embolden him and make him have ago at another rape simply because he beat the rap before.
