Winnie Odinga: My EALA MP Job is Just a Side Hustle

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga says her job at the regional parliament is not her primary source of income.

Winnie, who is the last-born daughter of opposition leader Raila Odinga, said she earns most of her income from her digital communications company dubbed The Brick House Counsel.

"I have been around the world; I have met kings, queens, celebrities and world leaders. I have been a photographer in my past life, a campaign manager, a writer, and now am a CEO of a digital communication firm. I do this side gig where I am the youngest female MP for Kenya in the East Africa Legislative Assembly," said Winnie.

The 33-year-old, who describes herself as the “child of the struggle”, spoke in Karen during a luncheon to commemorate one-year anniversary of beauty brand Phoina Beauty, which is owned by entrepreneur Phoina Tosha.

Winnie underscored the importance of women to have self-confidence and competence to succeed in life.

"We (women) are the only group in this country who are told how to do everything; how to dress, how to look, how to speak, when you should be married and when you should have children. We are the only group that's brought down and controlled every single thing," said Winnie.

"In those maandamanos nobody is told how to dress. When I go for political rallies in Marsabit, I have to wear a hijab. When I go to church in Luo Nyanza I must wear a dress and It has to be floored. When I go anywhere the first thing that we are judged on is our appearance but those things only have power as long as we give it to them. Your confidence begins with what you allow people to tell you about yourselves,” she added.

Hello heifer. 🐖. Diet should be your full time priority from now on. Hizo pounds zimezidi. What an insult? How many people voted for your muuaji father that go to bed hungry or sleeps on the street? Why don’t you recuse yourself and let them have a chance in life with your “side hustle?” You are very stupid indeed.

Hahaha, couldn't resist gloating. There is only one glaring omission I see.And that it the failure to mention Papa Amollo's foot and finger prints in the 'pudding'.
I have notices that, lately she been harping alot on CONFIDENCE.Is she harboring some insecurities? Hard to believe that there is no man in Kenya with enough confidence to date her( according to her).I wouldn't mind throwing my name in the hat except I loath the idea of sitting with RAO at the dinner table and having him deride me for my family's lack of making it to Who's - Who list in Kenya;ignoring ,or down playing my own merits.

And I bet those kings and queens who you dined with, couldn't wait for you to leave and as for photographs who cares, in the age of social media, everyone is photographed :-). The oozing ego is disturbing.

Meeting that womenizer Mswati ,and his under age 'queens' is nothing write home about...
By the way throwing my name in the hat...I was just being facetious. You are still my MMmmmmm...my preference,my choice... Yes I know you are hitched, but should you get unhinched,Iam ready to send some livestock to your family.Iam stocking.

Maxiley - Ha ha those compliments eh... yes if bwana decided not to perform, I shall drive down to FL, hopefully mamacita wont mind sharing lol. But weee we are both in finance, why would we want to give away our retirement to family wakule pesa ya bure. We just elope , we can answer the questions to familia after the fact.

Yes, familia comes after the fact, but as you know, a spare tire also has to have air in it...if you get my drift.Just letting you know in case of a "flat" the space will take over seamlessly.
