One Million Kenyans Need to Work Abroad, Says President Ruto

The President has said that one million Kenyans should seek employment abroad to expand the economy.

Speaking in Kakamega during a Church service on Sunday, the Head of State pointed out that the influx of dollars would be greater if the younger generation works outside the country. Mr Ruto declared that Germany, the US, and Canada have called for more Kenyans to work in their respective nations. According to Ruto, job opportunities abroad would help stabilize the economy and alter the fortune of the youth in the country.

He added that his administration is keen on growing digital employment opportunities due to its availability. Ruto has been vocal in lauding the Finance Bill 2023, asserting that the implementation of affordable housing initiatives would grant the youth more employment opportunities.

"In our manifesto, we have 100,000 kilometres of fibre optics because we want to grow digital jobs. We will install 25,000 Wi-Fi hotspots around the country to enable our young people to access jobs digital and venture into e-commerce. We have planned to build 10,000 houses in Kakamega, The program will create employment. We expect to create over one million jobs across the country. Kazi ni Kazi," he said.

With regard to tax collection, the President declared that he will emulate the example set by former President Mwai Kibaki. Ruto affirmed that his government is making progress in introducing new taxes and will persist in the mission, as it will lead to more revenue. He emphasized that he will not resort to borrowing, but instead focus on collecting taxes.

Get rid of the Kenyan mental disease of corruption, arrogance, bribery and nepotism as quite evident in the current UDA appointments and there will be no need to export Kenyans elsewhere to do menial/slave jobs because there will be enough job opportunities in Kenya.

The late President Mwai Kibaki accomplished this mission without exporting Kenyans elsewhere. In addition, please emulate the late President of Tanzania Brother Pombe Magufuli who saved lots of money by suspending foreign travelling contrary to what you like to do.

It is important to know that in the USA, no jobs will be offered to an expatriate unless there is no American that is applying for the same job. This philosophy was strengthened by the former President of the USA, as "America First."

This man is not the sharpest tool in the shed. If the young leave Kenya, there is a good chance they won't ever return. Moreover the money they send back will be a fraction of their actual earnings. Uncle Sam doesn't share tax revenues with other countries and I sincerely doubt anyone in any government in the US said they want Kenyans to come and work in the US. He must have been talking to farmers.

I will repeat it here again!

1. The work of your government is to create more jobs and opportunities within your own borders! Not depend on foreign opportunities for your populace!!
You’re admitting that you’ve failed at this!

2. Addressing government waste, corruption, and inflated wage bill will bring more income than any amount of taxes you raise on an already overtaxed workforce!!
Why do you have a problem just saying the word , “corruption?” You’ve been president for almost a year now and you haven’t said that word once!!
Is it because you’re a product and king of corruption??
If we address corruption in Kenya, we’ll create more jobs and increase both local and foreign investments!
Corruption is the number 1 cause of poverty, unemployment, and lack of investment in Kenya!!

3. We need the youth in our own country to develop the economy! We cannot develop Kenya if we keep encouraging brain drain at the rate you’re advocating!!

Mr. President, Kenyans need jobs at home.Jobs are a creation of the total sum of the human activities in a nation that make life possible. Whoever supplies our needs: clothing, furnature, utensils, shoes, farming needs- pangas and all the other things in our stream of commerce; that is the person who has our jobs. If we make the things we buy from abroad- and we have capacity to make a lot of them ourselves, then we would have lots of jobs for our people. If you become a dumping ground for the factories in China, Thailand, South Korea etc, then, you will only provide jobs for the people in those countries and not your people because you're a consumer and not a producer. We should strive to be self reliance.

I have been accused on this forum for being a "Rutocrat".Even if I were, it would dishonest on my part to support his ideas, that I dont agree with.Such as this one of saying that,"one million kenyans should seel employment abroad to expand the economy..."As well intended as they may be coming ,from the president to me sends a defitists attitude. Seeking employment goes without saying that,it's a prerogative of an individual.Much more so when seeking employment out of your comfort zone.
It is true that countries like USA, Germany, and Canada may indeed have more opportunities for empployment, and would demand foreign laborforce, but we as acountry should be trying to be like them instead of waiting to fill in the gaps.
Yes we need to invest in order to create jobs, and we need capital for that.I get it.But all that would amount to nothing if we do not deal first, with the corruption crisis, and our unpended priorities. How many times have we head from our leaders that their is enough wealth in Kenya to sustain and grow our economy,if we could only get our acts together... Either they are lying,or worse misallocating the resources .Nonetheless, they answerable to the masses. And the masses are responsible for electing worthy leaders, not crooks. My two cents.

Dumb leaders, create employment for them in their own country it's possible if u criminalize corruption, cut down on government expenditures n foreign trips, ease the cost of starting and running a business.cut taxes and unreasonable regulations and finally encourage startups, invention multinationals and there will be job creation In all corners of Kenya.

We have no jobs at home, it should be like 20 million should be working abroad! You need to create conditions that enables jobs creation, entrepreneurship and innovation! Anyone who has worked abroad knows that HOME IS BEST!!!

Sometimes I think Ruto is severely retarded. Instead of saying the local economy will create 1 million jobs, he is advocating for people to "japa" like Nigerians say for better pastures. Shenzi kabisa.

As one who have lived in Eurpe long enough, i consider Ruto's story as hot air with stench equivalent to... Europe have its fare share of unemployed. What talent that a Kenyan in Nairobi have that an unemployed European dont have. Second, other than Britain, every country in Europe have on language; how will you operate a machine, computer or understand job laws that are in local languages. Here to work on many jobs even street cleaning, one must enroll in special courses and posses relevant certificates, say as a office cleaner. Stop this BS bwana.

We need to create jobs at home. We need to learn from the countries we are sending our youths how they created jobs.

Be wary. Some Africans shipped their fellow Africans to the new lands some 400 yrs ago.
Ruto should strive to create jobs at home and export goods and services, not people.

Someone needs to tell this Kalejinga,

Governments across the world are not creating jobs for foreigners(Kenyans).

Jesus Christ, the inferiority complex of slavery . Like we are having this mindset in 2023. I can't. The audacity of even uttering these words is clingy worthy ! I knew this was a uneducated clown voted as president of a beautiful country like Kenya. Kibaki is turning in his grave. When did we become so shallow!

I disagree Mr President. Learn how those nations created jobs and replicate it at home. Can't rely on outside jobs. Majority are doing menial jobs that natives don't want. Imagine the indignity of wiping someone's ass with a degree two in the pocket?? The ass belongs to someone who's got less education than the wiper Kenyan. Ponder that. Maybe we need a ministry of job creation.

I disagree with the way you define indignity in this context.Who told you that people without degrees in their pockets find pleasure in"wiping people's asses?"If it is not an acceptbale human act,it should apply across board.
Under normal circumstances, people do not need their asses wipped. They can do it themselves. So have sympathy for those who are unable to do it for themselves, and give credit, and empathy to those who do the "ass wiping".
Demand and supply drives the job market. There is always a posibility that ass wipers could some day make a killing. That is if Samantha the AI does not take up ass wiping.
However, Iam with you on Mr.President learning from'better nations' on job creation.Even though I believe that he is not that ignorant on that issue.Just incapable.
Finaly, some of you may have had this joke,or aversion of it: A suggeon was having a well attended party at his mansion ,when at about 2. am the main plumbing drainage clogged. An emergency plumber was found, and upon seeing the bill, the surgeon cried" Iam a surgeon, and I dont make $600 an hour. The Emergency-plumber replied-So was I when I was one.

Samoei has not been discriminated throughout his lifetime because of his hair texture or as the result of the color of his skin.
Why is he ready and willing to sacrifice innocent Kenyans to settle in a foreign country where he is not welcome or wanted by the European mentally bankrupt and sick people - the KKK?
Is Samoei aware that majority of the European people believe that their skin color is better and superior to the rest of the people on earth?
I usually identify these sick European people as colorists. They lack Critical Thinking Skills as a result of lacking basic skills of acknowledging the CREATOR as TIP BACAD (The Invisible Power Behind All Creations And Diversity).
Is Samoei aware of these people?
Had it not been for Brother Wafula Chebukati clearing Samoei and Raila against the minimum requirements of the character of candidates vying for an elective public office as contained in Chapter Six of our New Constitution, the people of Kenya would not be going through “hell” under the incompetent leadership of Samoei with his UDA.
