UK Embassy in Kenya Repaints its Vans With Nairobi Matatu Graffiti Ahead of Royal Visit

The British High Commission has undertaken a unique and vibrant project in anticipation of the upcoming royal visit of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla to Kenya.
By merging the sophistication of diplomatic visits with the vivacity of Nairobi's matatus, the embassy teamed up with famed graffiti artists to spruce up their matatu vans with visually captivating works of art, thereby celebrating Nairobi's matatu culture. The head of the graffiti crew, 'Matwana Culture', who goes by the name Graff Matwana, spearheaded this undertaking. Impressed by the branded vehicles, Neil Wigan, British High Commissioner to Kenya, applauded them as the most trendy and stylish design within their fleet of vehicles at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
Incorporated into the striking aesthetic of these designs are British flags, digital prints, vinyl stickers, and representations of Kenyan culture and history through items such as notable London landmarks, celebrated long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge, and native wildlife. It's not uncommon to see depictions of royalty adorn the sides of some of the matatus with pride. A convoy has been planned for use exclusively by embassy personnel and state dignitaries to serve the transportation needs of every official involved in the state tour of the visiting Royal Family.
In the vibrant city of Nairobi, the roaring engines of matatus fill the streets, complete with blaring music and audacious designs, each more unique than the last. These colourfully adorned buses come in various designs featuring hip-hop stars, and sports icons. They also boost flashy onboard entertainment that never disappoints. The culture of matatus holds a special place in the hearts of Kenyans.
President William Ruto of Kenya extended an invitation to the royal couple for this visit, coinciding with the nation's celebration of 60 years of independence from Britain. This will be the first Commonwealth country visit for Charles III since assuming the throne in September of last year. The itinerary of the visit will showcase the collaborative efforts between the two countries on a wide range of issues, as highlighted in the statement.

They have been bringing pedophiles and child molesters to Mombasa & the coast for years.
The government of Kenya is helping them.
Mombasa and all the beach hotels in Kenya are full of British child molesters, exploiting children and the government of Kenya is protecting them.
That is the “Interest” they are protecting in Kenya.

I beg to differ. The British gave more than they took, they created a state where there was none and within a period of forty years built roads, towns, schools, hospitals, ports, and institutions that we still depend on today and which we're busy breaking down. What have we built for ourselves since 1963 other than corruption, theft and neglect of the industries they built? We still use their language for just about everything, and clamor and murder each other for the opportunity to live in the neighborhoods they created viz Karen, Lavington,Westlands,Muthaiga .... We fight to take our children to the schools they built, Alliance , and when everything else fails we run back to them as refugees.

Are you talking about the roads and railway lines they built to take the raw materials they looted from Kenya to their country? The Posh neighborhood you have mentioned like Muthaiga, Karen & Lavington were for the white people. Kenyans were put into reserves and concentrated camps when the white man took the land.

@Mkenya Halisi, they never stopped. In fact the BATUK is guilty of sexual abuse, murder, solicitation of prostitution. They even caused a fire that burned thousands of acres. They can't be prosecuted for these crimes because the government negotiated a bad treaty in return for less than $10 million. Kenyan victims can't take them to court in the UK for crimes prior to a certain time and remarkably, British soldiers cannot be put on trial in Kenya without agreement from Britain.

@Mundumugo,Iam reminded of that case where these Britons soldiers in Naivasha raped and killed this Kenya girl.I forget her name. Her family has been seeking justice since then, but nothing doing. The worst part is that the damn soldiers were bragging about it if I remember the story correctly......And this is not the only incident of its kind.
It's a shame of grand proportion that some Kenyans still hold mzungu in awe...just because he has a white skin.
