US-Based Kenyan Professor Assaulted and Shot by Police in Nairobi

A US-Based Kenyan professor was involved in a shooting incident in Nairobi on Monday while on vacation in the country.

The clash took place in Ngara following a dispute between the professor and a police officer. According to reports, the officers observed multiple drivers utilizing the incorrect lane near the Globe Roundabout and approached them to question their behavior. Experiencing frustration, the professor exited his vehicle and engaged in a confrontation with one of the officers, leading to a physical altercation.

Regrettably, the professor suffered gunshot wounds to both of his thighs amid the confrontation when the officer employed his AK-47 rifle. The professor was immediately taken to Nairobi Hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment. Presently, authorities are conducting an inquiry into the incident and will proceed to record the professor's account once he is discharged from the hospital. In the meantime, a group of officers will be stationed at the medical facility to obtain further details from the injured party.

It is crucial to acknowledge that, as per the National Police Service Act, officers have been authorized to utilize firearms for two distinct purposes. The Act, which was revised in 2013, allows the use of force to protect oneself or others from physical harm. This modification now empowers officers to employ their weapons in defending property, even if there is no immediate threat of physical harm to themselves or others.

I wonder what could have transpired that eventually led to a weapon being discharged over a minor incidence like a traffic infraction.

That's stupid of him. He can't do that on the States,to confront a cop, why he wants to show off and do it in Kenya. He deserved that. Lesson learned

Professor, while US police are sometimes lethal to a percentage of black people, Kenyan police are among other things, generally poorly educated, training hatujui, and definitely corrupt and in Kenya, only black people are killed by police. Strangely, I think had he been white, he would have been unhurt.
Also, given that the information is public, what is served by providing incomplete information.

IN THE US WHEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE YOU CAN'T EVEN DARE GET YOUR LITTLE BALLS OUT OF THE CAR ,SO FACE YOUR CONSEQUENCES .

Seriously, and we want to retire in Kenya. In any armed theft in Kenya, police are involved.
Ruto, please address this issue.

So, alipeleka Moto ya “you know where I’m from?” If only folks would chill and be respectful. He knows he’s not getting out his vehicle in the states but it’s all madharau coz in the Kenyan thinking he feels the cop is “less than”.

Hello,

The finer details of the incidents regards the confrontation have not been fully captures.

I would say that the general legal consensus is use of firearm should only be a last resort.

Until a full investigation is conducted then we have not reason to assume either parry is innocent or at fault.

But what I can say is any use of firearms must be strictly back by law and poor Training as some are claiming is not an excuse.

So hapa kila mtu atabeba mzigo ya yake. Meaning let the law take its course

He was smart but not Street smart. Respect law enforcers who are wrong most of the time and low educated even in US. They are high sch punks who failed to impress in sports and academics. Getting out of the vehicle is out of choices

You do not bring a knife to a gun fight in this case he brought his fat ass and big mouth. His academic credentials need to be investigated.Stupidity of the highest level.Nowhere in any country is it okay to confront an officer with a weapon.Always stay in your car unless the car is exploding .On your best day you cannot beat him on his worst day he is trained to kill and you are trying to reason with someone who could care less about your professorship ya majuu
