Mike Sonko's Daughter, Saumu Mbuvi Defends Him Over 'Incoherence' During Governor Aspirants Debate
Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi has come to the defense of her father after Kenyans on social media attacked the senator’s ability to articulate issues during a recent debate on KTN’s Kivumbi show where Nairobi governor aspirants engaged each other.
A short video clip of the debate has been circulating on social media after the debate, with a number of Kenyans expressing their disappointment by the senator’s inability to express himself comprehensibly, questioning his ability to be Nairobi's next governor.
Choosing to view the issue from a different angle, Sonko’s daughter pointed out that her father has been so close to Nairobi residents and has been responding promptly to their problems, which should be the issue of focus, rather than men in suits with imported English.
“To My fellow Youths, Let’s not be blinded by men in suits with imported English. We are the future and we need a leader who stands with us by all times. We need a leader who fights for us, understands us and more so walks with us. Mike Sonko has been the only leader providing employment for the youth wengine walikua wapi??...Sonko has been for us and forever with us.’’ She posted.
The gubernatorial debate was held on Monday moderated by KTN’s Joe Ageyo, and was dominated with name calling as the aspirants attacked each other and exposing opponents weaknesses and ‘past evils’.
Incumbent governor Evans Kidero of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Mike Mbuvi Sonko (Jubilee), Peter Kenneth (Independent) and Miguna Miguna (Independent) took part in the debate.
