Rwanda President Paul Kagame Congratulates Uhuru on Re-Election

Rwanda President Paul Kagame has congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta on his re-election, saying he looks forward to continued cooperation between the two countries.

“Congratulation my brother @UKenyatta for a successful election ad the trust Kenyans have place in you!,” wrote President Kagame in this Twitter handle.

“.@UKenyatta Pamela tumid kujenga umoja na maendeleo ya mataifa na jumuiya yetu,” he wrote in a follow-up tweet.

President Uhuru was declared the winner of the 2017 presidential election on Friday by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati. He secured a second term with 54.25 percent of the ballots cast, while Raila Odinga, his closest rival, finishing second with 44.74 percent of the vote.
