Raila Odinga Hires Private Guards
NASA leader Raila Odinga has hired private guards to man his rural home in Bondo, Siaya County. This follows the withdrawal of four National Police Service officers attached to the home.
Police officers attached to Raila’s security detail as well as that of his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka were reportedly withdrawn on Tuesday following the leaders’ move to lead demonstrations against the IEBC in Nairobi.
“It is sad that nobody had informed me of the withdrawal, I just woke up and found the officers recalled, I am not moved by the decision but I want to assure the government that my security is the people of Kenya,” Raila said at a press conference in Nairobi on Tuesday. He said the move was part of the Jubilee government’s plot to frustrate NASA in its fight for a free and credible repeat presidential election.
ODM chairman John Mbadi decried the move to withdraw the officer, giving the National Police Service 24 hours to return the leaders' security. “This is not negotiable! Should anything happen to our any of our principals we shall place blame squarely on President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto,”Mbadi said on Tuesday.
