Muthama Accuses Kalonzo of Having an Affair with His Former Wife
Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has accused Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka of having an affair with his former wife Agnes Kavindu.
In an interview on Friday, Muthama stated that he legally divorced Kavindu in 1983, adding that Kalonzo is free to marry her.
He further alleged that he was aware that Kalonzo was involved with Kavindu since 1985 but he kept supporting him until they fell out in 2017.
“I want to tell Kalonzo that Agnes is not my wife, you can go ahead and marry her...we know what you did to your wife. So if you want to marry Kavindu go to church or summon Kamba customary laws,” said Muthama.
He described Kalonzo as a weak man who cannot seduce a woman, saying that he takes advantage of situations by enticing divorced women.
"This now follows what I have been hearing as back as 1985. When I divorced my wife in 1983 there were rumors Kalonzo used to 'move' with my former wife. I had no issues and they continued with the same relationship until she left my house where I had housed her due to the courtesy of my children," said Muthama.
He added: “…When I funded the Wiper party I didn't know he intended to get to power and finish me because of a woman who was not even with me."
Muthama warned Kalonzo against using his former wife to fight him and threatened to expose him for who is he is. "Let's compete in politics without having to involve family," he noted.
Muthama was on Wednesday stopped from attacking Kalonzo during a burial in Machakos after the Wiper leader promised to reunite him with Kavindu. A furious Muthama charged towards Kalonzo, but he was restrained by Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka.
Kavindu is the Wiper party candidate in the upcoming Machakos senatorial by-election while Muthama is campaigning for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Urbanus Ngengele. Muthama is the chairman of UDA, a party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
