MP Moses Kuria Summoned by IEBC over Vote-Rigging Remarks
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over vote-rigging claims.
He is required to appear before the commission’s Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee for examination, according to a summon letter sent to Kuria.
Kuria, who is accused of violating Clause 6 (a) and 6 (I) of the electoral code of conduct, is required to attend the offices of the commission at Anniversary Towers on March 30th at 10:00 am.
The MP is accused of making the utterances while addressing delegates at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party National Delegates Convention at Kasarani on March 15th.
Kuria implied that he was involved in rigging the 2017 presidential elections in favor of President Kenyatta and the Jubilee Party. The Chama Cha Kazi (CCM) party leader claimed he collaborated with other leaders to steal votes for Kenyatta.
"Kuna wengine wanasema ati kura ya mlima itagawanywa; mheshimiwa Ann Waiguru, Rigathi Gachagua, Muthomi Njuki, Kimani Ichung’wa, Senator Linturi, Alice Wahome, Faith Gitau, Kimani wa Matangi…Sisi ndio tulikuwa tukishikilia Uhuru kura, na sisi ndio tulikuwa tunamuibia kura,” Kuria stated.
“Akili yote iliyoweka Uhuru kwenye kiti, yote iko hapa, ile iliokuwa kule Azimio ni mwili tu.”
