Safaricom to Close All Shops Countrywide in Honor of Late CEO Bob Collymore

Safaricom has announced that all shops across the country will close for four hours on Thursday in honor of their late CEO Bob Collymore.

The telecommunications company said the outlets will remain closed from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm during Collymore's memorial service at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.

“As a mark of respect for our cherished leader, Safaricom shall be closing all our shops countrywide on Thursday 4th July 2019 between the hours of 10.30am and 2.30pm,” the company said in a statement.

Collymore died at his Nairobi residence on Monday morning after battling with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for about two years.

The 61-year-old was cremated in a private ceremony held at the Hindu Shamshan Bhumi Cremation Centre in Kariokor, Nairobi on Tuesday.

Collymore is survived by his wife, Wambui Kamiru and four children.
