Microsoft has appointed Jack Ngare as the first Managing Director of its newly launched Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Nairobi.
Ngare leaves Equity Bank, where he has been serving as the MD of the lender’s virtual mobile money operator, Finserve for the past one and half years.
Prior to being appointed as Finserve MD, Ngare worked as technology and innovations general manager at Equity Group for a period of four years.
Ngare has a vast experience of over 15 years in different fields including management, telecommunications, financial services, and emerging technology.
He previously held various positions at Stanbic Bank, NIC Bank, and British Telecom with duties in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Peru, and Japan.
He holds a Master’s degree in management from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in advanced computer science and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Leicester.
Microsoft’s research and development facility in Nairobi was opened in May and is the first of its kind in the continent.
The center was set up to help Microsoft grow its market share across Africa in the wake of increased technology acceptance in various economic sectors.
“This is such an incredible opportunity, to join an organization that is truly empowering people globally, and in Africa, to achieve more. I can’t wait to start my new journey as managing director and proud to lead such a talented team in Nairobi.”
“I also look forward to welcoming many more talented engineers to the center as we all embark on this wonderful digital transformation journey,” said Ngare.
