Some Kenyans in the Diaspora Illegally Brew and Sell Chang’aa, Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Mutua Says

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has faulted a section of Kenyans in the diaspora for engaging in illegal businesses.

Speaking on Citizen TV's JKLive show on Wednesday, Mutua said some Kenyans brew illicit liquor in Gulf countries, where the sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited.

Mutua indicated that this has led to the arrest, incarceration and even deportation of those engaging in such criminal activities.

“We are taking care of all Kenyans in Qatar and we are the government speaking the truth …Kenyans are business people, and in some of these countries in the Middle East, alcohol is illegal...” said Mutua.

“Do you know there are Kenyans brewing chang’aa in some of these countries? It breaks my heart that we are here debating about getting Kenyans there while there are Kenyans there with chang’aa dens, selling chang’aa to other Africans, an illegality of illegality in a Muslim country.”

He warned that such acts were weakening the Kenyan passport and crippling the government's efforts in addressing the plight of Kenyans living and working abroad.

“It is creative but we can be creative in other sectors. Some of them are losing their sight due to chang’aa. The things they are doing here they are doing there. That weakens our passport and bargaining points,” he stated.

He cautioned Kenyans in the diaspora against undertaking illegal business, adding that the government will not defend any law violators.

"We are there for you and this government is longing to work for you from corner to corner to make sure you grow up with hope and dream that whatever you dream can come true… you don’t have to undertake all these illegal activities to make money," Mutua noted.

“We don’t have mercy on you…you get rounded up and deported, we welcome you here and when you are convicted there, we will let them come and take them to Kamiti because chang’aa is also illegal here.”

Mutua,as much as we would wish for diaspora not to commit crimes, anywhere for that matter,it is inevitable. You should know that...Remember some of these Kenyans are addicted to alcohol. When there is a need, human beings will do whatever it takes to fulfill that need.Prisoners in USA have been known to brew alcohol using peels from oranges, and potatoes to name afew ingredients.Pretty ingenious if you ask me.
Just like the need for alcohol,Kenyans in the gulf states have the need for "cheap sex".Thus, we have prostitution over there to carter to locals as well. We have thieves, and so on. To me,all these pales in comparison to the horrors and inhuman treatment kenyans face at the hands of gulf dwellers.I was hopping that, that was what took you over their.

Let's face it, Kenyans are enterprising people wherever they maybe and will always find loopholes and turn them into craters.

Maybe the pressure for remittance to Kenya is too much for some of us. Money doesn't grow on trees and these interprenaurial Kenyans are doing the best they can. Please don't be so judgemental.

This Wamala has quickly forgotten the life he lived in Australian brewing Changaa. It is not too long ago he sold that illicit brew on the streets of Canberra but now he has become a fat cat through corruption and forgotten his past.

Mutua, those muslims you are glorifying drink more changaa than the brandy Kenyans. You are talking ill about your black folks against a yellow skin. Do you feel inferior about yourself as a black dude? Sure you do! Let those Kenyans with the skill to make busaa enjoy the oil money. There is no illegality when it comes to being a genius about survival means in a foreign country. Would it better for you not f the same people were prostitutes? You drink changaa too; don't you?

Muslims are no different from other human beings ,when it comes to desires of the body. The problem is the convenient hypocrisy. When it suits them, they find away to justify it's use. For example alcohol is widely sold in Egypt ,thus a good source of revenue from tourists.
But the best use of alcohol was during the marriage of Muhammad the prophet to Khadija the rich widow. It is written that Kadhija, and her sister made their further drunk. In that drunken stupor,he married the two lovers. Some say the prophet was there, but did not participate.Nonetheless , he was the grand beneficiary of the act.

Decolonizing our mind is a class that should be taught in all secondary schools, colleges & Universities. The class should teach all the evil the mzungu has done to Africans like slavery, lynching, colonization, apartheid etc. The picture of the white Jesus is the one that make Africans think that mzungu will save them from their problems. Mzungu, Arab or Indians will never solve Africans problems. Any time Africans get a problem they run to mzungu to ask for help. Mzungu will never help them. They need to learn from history.

Lol a good one but, remember these drinks have their alcohol content STANDARDIZED hence deemed harmless for human consumption. Changaa is thus ILLEGAL & DANGEROUS for that very same reason.
An 8 oz cup might contain within it more than 100% of alcohol content.
Do you now see the source of the danger associated with any ILLEGALLY brewed alcoholic beverages?

I think someone here might have pointed to the right direction.

See, rather than solely focusing on the problem, changaa brewing, prostitution, etcetera, try taking more of a solution oriented approach. Firsthand, remember that the human brain is by nature designed to be protective. It's first instinct is survival. It will do anything it can, device any means possible to run away from pain and instead run towards pleasure. Fact! In that sense, perhaps ask yourself what is the MOTIVE behind the social ills? What is/are the UNMET NEED(s).
With these in mind then Mkamba, Mutua and the rest can confidently forge forward with healthy means to meet these UNMET NEEDS. These subconscious MOTIVES.

Changaa/ illicit alcohol brewing is not the problem only a symptom of an underlying problem!

Brewing your own beer for personal consumption is legal in all 50 us states but in some states is restricted under municipal law. they even sell brew kits in big name brand shops.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Beer-Making-Kit/9721912
same way they sell kits for making your own ammunition's.
I know this hard to believe for some. But do u know you can buy groceries and at the same shop buy a 12gauge rifle and before u make it to your car you buy a bag of weed and its all legal no special anything.
why im i getting with this. its all a matter of if its legal or no legal.
