Kenya is dispatching a delegation to New Zealand to deliver essential consular services.
Scheduled for February 14th and 15th, 2025, the visit will be led by Ambassador Dr. Wilson Kogo, the Kenyan High Commissioner to Australia. This initiative reflects the Kenyan government's commitment to assisting its citizens living abroad. The delegation will comprise officials from the State Department of Diaspora Affairs and the National Registration Bureau.
They will provide a variety of vital services to Kenyan nationals in New Zealand, including the issuance of national identity cards, passport processing, driver's license verification, police clearance certificates, birth certificates, dual citizenship applications, document legalization, and emergency travel certificates.
Acknowledging the logistical challenges faced by Kenyans outside their homeland, the mission seeks to facilitate access to these essential services. To streamline the national identity card application procedure, on-site forms 136A and 136C will be available. Citizens are encouraged to complete a Google registration form in advance and familiarize themselves with the requirements to enhance service delivery efficiency.
Although the Kenyan community in New Zealand is relatively small, with just 324 residents recorded in the 2018 Census and a median age of 24.2 years, it is vibrant and on the rise. This youthful demographic significantly contributes to the cultural and economic landscape of New Zealand. The upcoming consular visit holds particular importance for the Kenyan diaspora, as it presents a unique opportunity to maintain strong connections with their homeland while accessing important services without the usual logistical obstacles.
While the specific venue for the mission has yet to be disclosed, preparations are underway to ensure a professional and seamless experience for all participants. Kenyan nationals in New Zealand are encouraged to stay updated through official communication channels to maximize the benefits of this vital initiative.
