Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko says that some in Jubilee want him to bow out of Nairobi gubernatorial race in favor of his rival, Peter Kenneth.
Speaking during a campaign trail in Nairobi’s Eastlands area on Monday, Sonko said that despite being loyal to the President and Jubilee party, some members have abandoned him in favor of his opponent. “I have been a staunch party member and a defender of President Uhuru Kenyatta especially when he had a case at the International Criminal Court, but the moment I declared interest in the governor’s post, some people felt I should not be supported,” says Sonko.
He lashed out at some Jubilee MPs who have ceased supporting him saying that he was not ready to step down for anyone. “Eleven MPs in Nairobi have stopped supporting me,” said Sonko.
Sonko promised City residents that he will give them the services they are dying for and asked them to support President Uhuru’s re-election bid.
