Supreme Court to Read its Detailed Judgment on Decision Uphold Uhuru's Victory

The Supreme Court is expected to read a detailed ruling on its November 20th decision that upheld the re-election of President Kenyatta in the October 26th repeat presidential poll.

The six apex court judges will explain in details on how they arrived at an unanimous decision to throw out the two petitions that contested Uhuru’s October 26th victory.

The judges must read the full judgment not later than Monday as required by the presidential election petition rules and regulations. In a unanimous ruling, the court found that the two petitions fronted by Harun Mwau and another by Khelef Khalifa and Njonjo Mue lacked merit.

“The court has unanimously determined that the petitions are not merited and the final orders are that the petition by Mwau versus the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and two others as consolidated is hereby dismissed,” said the judges.

“The petition by Njonjo Mue and another versus the chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and three others as consolidated is also hereby dismissed. As a consequence, the presidential election of October 26 is hereby upheld as is the election of Uhuru Kenyatta,” Chief Justice David Maraga said.
