President Uhuru Will Remain Party Leader after Leaving Office in 2022, Jubilee Vice-chair Says

Jubilee Party vice-chairman David Murathe says that President Kenyatta will not resign as the party's leader even after leaving office in 2022.

Speaking in Gatanga, Murang'a county Murathe said President Uhuru will not relinquish his position as Jubilee party leader, but will play a supervisory role as the party looks to form the next government.

"President Uhuru will still be the leader of our party even after his term ends," he said.

Murathe further said a delegation from China, led by member of the central committee of the Communist Party of China, which is charged with identifying presidential candidates will be in the country from next week to help Jubilee strengthen its structures.

"The Jubilee party has merged 13 parties into one and I wish the opposition can also do the same," he said.

In the last general elections, Jubilee party won a majority of MPs in the National Assembly, taking 194 MPs out of 337. In the Senate, the party won 27 out of 47.

The same performance was replicated in Governor and Member of County Assembly (MCA) elections.
