Three Gunned Down as Police Crackdown on Muggers in Nairobi CBD

Police have shot dead three criminals in the latest crackdown on muggers in Nairobi’s central business district following outcry from city residents.

Two muggers suspected to to be heads of one of the gang groups were killed at the Railways bridge near Haile Selassie roundabout on Tuesday, while the third suspect was shot dead at the Globe Cinema roundabout.

This comes only a day after the Nairobi County Security Committee unveiled an anti-mugging squad after the gangs resumed their criminal operations in the city centre.

Nairobi Regional Commissioner Bernard Leparmarai, County Police Commander Japhet Koome and Regional Administration Police Commander Francis Mburu have vowed to flash out the muggers out of the city.

The gangs have been targeting handbags from women as well people exiting ATMs, banks, mobile money shops and forex bureaus and snatch cash, phones and other valuables.

Mhh, Maxiley, Iam not sure on this one. Shoot to disarm not kill is the way to go. Not content with a trigger happy police force baba. What about if it's a case of mistaken identity? I would rather have them arrested to serve a long sentence with hard labor and most to be used for community service to clean up Nairobi city or mortuaries so they can see the outcome of their sins. We all know there is always scope for a rotten apple anywhere, so how can we be sure the Police would not use this power to set someone up? Sheria ifuatwe siyo to be abused.
