Why Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho Wants to Meet President Uhuru

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has announced plans to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Addressing opposition supporters when he made a stopover at Kondele in Kisumu on Wednesday, Joho said he will seek compensation for victims of last year's hotly contested elections during his meeting with the president.

This would be a new twist of events considering that the Governor has in the past traded words with President and has for several times been blocked by police from attending his (Kenyatta) functions.

Joho has also been a fierce critic of Jubilee administration and has clashed with the government over some of its project including plans to build an inland port at Naivasha. Joho argued the move was an economic sabotage to the city of Mombasa, since many residents would lose jobs in the plan.

Joho also reiterated his plans to run for the Presidency in 2022, stating that he will use Orange Democratic Movement ticket to seek the country's top seat.

“Our party is still solid and compact but we want to strengthen it and Baba’s position more, so that he is assured of our backing when he engages the other leaders across the country,” said Joho in reference to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I started politics in 2004 and was elected on an ODM party ticket for the Kisauni seat. In 2002, I will contest for the presidency on the same ticket,” said Joho.

The first D- president. Stick to pharmacy until the day of reckoning catches up with you. Kenya may have mediocre leadership but its not ready for a mediocre leader.
