NYS Scandal: PS Lillian Omollo Rushed to Hospital after Collapsing at Lang'ata Women's Prison

Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Lilian Omollo was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday morning after allegedly collapsing while in detention.

Ms Omollo reportedly collapsed at Lang'ata Women's Prison, where she spent the night on orders issued by the court on Tuesday.

She was remanded at the Langata Women’s Prison alongside other women suspects' in the Sh9 billion corruption scandal case at the National Youth Service (NYS).

Before they were moved to prison, the court session had lasted for over 12 hours as the lawyers from both defense and prosecution sides presented their case.

Omollo, National Youth Service Director-General Richard Ndubai and 30 other suspects on Tuesday faced a long list of charges relating to loss of billions of shillings at the youth agency.

Mr Ndubai and other male accused persons in the case were taken to Industrial Area Remand Prison in Nairobi.

Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti, who ruled on the matter at 1:55am ordered the suspects be remanded until June 5th, when the court will deliver a ruling on whether they will be released on bail or not.
