Alleged Quack Doctor Mugo Wa Wairimu Charged with Operating an Illegal Clinic in Nairobi

Suspected Quack doctor James Mugo Ndichu, popularly known as Mugo wa Wairimu, has been charged with operating an illegal clinic in Nairobi's Kayole Estate.

Appearing before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Friday, Mugo has pleaded not guilty to the charges and asked the court to free him on bail.

Mugo was arrested by Flying Squad officers in Gachie area, Kiambu County last week and has been spending nights at Pangani Police Station pending completion of investigations into allegations leveled against him.

The alleged fake gynecologist has also been charged with running an unlicensed pharmacy and medical laboratory among other offenses.

The prosecution claims Mugo has been running Milan Health International Ltd in Kayole without required licenses from relevant authorities.

The prosecution has urged the court not to release him on bail, arguing that he has a proven history of jumping bail. Mugo will remain in police custody until December 6th when the court will rule on whether or not he will be freed on bond.

In 2015, Wa Wairimu was charged with operating Prestige Health Centre, an unlicensed clinic in Zimmerman estate.

He is also accused of sedating female patients at his clinic with an aim of sexually assaulting them as well as conducting illegal abortions.

A nurse who was raping patients among other things.
