Late Kibra MP Ken Okoth to be Cremated in Private Function

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga says the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth will be cremated in a private function.
Addressing the media at Silver Springs Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday, Odinga said the remains of Okoth will be ferried to Kasipul Kabondo, Homa Bay County on Saturday for a funeral service before they are handed over to the family to perform the final rights.
“Ken will be given to the family to do the rest…just like we did with Kenneth Matiba (cremation)…so the family will do the rest,” said Raila.
Matiba, a former politician and multi-party democracy crusader, was cremated at Lang’ata Crematorium on April 27th, 2018 following his death on April 15th.
It had earlier been reported that Okoth verbally informed his wife, Monica and younger brother that he wished to be cremated upon passing but his mother Angeline Ajwang was opposed to the plan.
Okoth, 41, succumbed to stage four colorectal cancer while undergoing medication at Nairobi Hospital last Friday. Prior to his death, Okoth had sought treatment in France for close to six months.
He is survived by his wife Monica, who hails from Europe.
