Over 3 Million Fake US Dollars Found Dumped on Roadside in Nairobi

Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into an incident where millions of fake US dollars were dumped on the roadside in the city.

The box containing the fake money was reportedly abandoned near Coptic Hospital along Ngong Road by unknown people on Sunday, The Standard reported. The fake notes, which also included Euros, were in different stages of manufacturing.

Police were called after members of the public using the feeder road spotted some of the fake cash splashed on the roadside.

Officers from Kilimani rushed to scene to collect the box and after analysis, they established that $640,000 fake papers were ready for distribution while $2.4million was in the final stage of formation. They also found 2,350 fake Euros and 15 liters of washing chemicals in powder form.

Nairobi Police Commander Philip Ndolo said officers are in pursuit of suspects behind the dumping of the fake cash.

“Investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made so far to enable us to know the motive,” said Ndolo as quoted by The Standard.
