2019 Census Results: 5 Most and Least Populous Counties in Kenya
Nairobi was named the most populous county in the 2019 national population census report released on Monday.
The report was presented to President Kenyatta by Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) director-general Zachary Mwangi at State House, Nairobi.
Kenya’s total population grew by 9.9 million to 47.6 million in 2019 from 37.7 million recorded in the 2009 census.
Of the 47,564,296 enumerated persons, 23,548,056 (49 percent) are male, 24,014,716 (50.5 percent) female while 1,524 are intersex, according to the report.
Nairobi leads with 4,397,073 persons followed by Kiambu (2,417,735), Nakuru (2,162,202), Kakamega (1,867,579) and Bungoma (1,670,570).
The five least populous counties are Lamu with 143,920, Isiolo (268,002), Samburu (310,327), Tana River (315,943) and Taita Taveta (340,671).
On intersex persons, Nairobi has the highest number (245) followed by Kiambu (135) and Nakuru (95) while Samburu (7), Tharaka Nithi (7) and Isiolo (9) have the least.

What should we take from this census?Are over populated or not... should we worry? Obviously Nairobi is over populated.Now what do we do about it? How about giving some Nairobians incentives to move to Isiolo ,or Samburu?There is no point of living in slums in Nairobi,if you can have adescent abode in Isiolo...
