2019 KCSE: Little-Known Rural School Sends All Candidates to University

Kisima Mixed Secondary School, a little-known rural school in Nyandarua County is among the unsung heroes after it posted outstanding results in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Kisima Mixed, an extra-county school located in Ol Jooro Orok, a few kilometers from Nyahururu town, attained a mean score of 10.0588 up from last year’s 9.5, sending all of its 34 candidates to university, according to Daily Nation.
Two candidates, Janet Wairimu Kahora and Pinky Esther Ong’ayo scored A (plain) of 82 and 81 points, respectively while 11 other learners-including seven boys and four girls — scored A-(minus).
Further to this, 12 candidates from the school attained grade B+ (plus), six scored B (plain), two had B- (minus), while the last one candidate achieved a C+ (plus).
This year’s KCSE examination results were the best the school has ever achieved since its establishment, Principal Daniel Amunga said. Amunga indicated that good performance was as a result of discipline and hard.
“At Kisima, discipline is our first chore. That is why we have been managing to post good results every year” he said, adding that the school admits students from poor families.
“We are here to assist them and brighten their lives. These are all students from poor families and we are proud that they now have achieved their goals.”
