2 Covid-19 Patients in Kenya Admitted to ICU in Critical Condition

Two coronavirus patients are presently in critical condition and have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Kenya’s Health Ministry has said.
In a media briefing on Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the two are among the 31 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country. The two; a Kenyan and a French national, are admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
“Together with medical teams at the hospital, we are closely monitoring their treatment and they are behaving well,” said Kagwe.
CS Kagwe also announced that 156 samples from suspected cases of COVID-19 had been tested in the past 24 hours and none was positive. This means the total number of confirmed cases of the virus remains at 31.
Out of the 31 cases, 21 were recorded in Nairobi County, six in Kilifi, two in Mombasa while Kwale and Kajiado have one each. The 31 patients include 19 males and 12 females.
In addition, CS Kagwe noted that 1,067 individuals believed to be close contacts of the 31 patients have been identified. Out of the 1,067, 136 have been discharged after being monitored for 14 days.
A 66-year-old Kenyan man who had been diagnosed with Covid-19 after returning to Kenya from South Africa died at the Aga Khan Hospital on Thursday. He was also suffering from diabetes.

Not much is known about Covid-19, apart from the fact that like the Common Cold or the Flu, it is a Coronavirus, and preys on weak immune systems. It also came in Winter, and primarily spreads in cold areas. There is a good chance that like other Coronaviruses, it will not spread in Africa(read warm weather), and as Winter heats up to Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, it will be subdued by the heat. Just a thought.
