24-Year-Old Man Arrested for Sitting for KCSE Exam on Behalf of Candidate

Police in Nandi are holding a 24-year-old man for allegedly sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination on behalf of a candidate.
Geoffrey Rono was nabbed in an examination room at Ndurio Secondary School in Aldai, having already sat for the English paper on Friday morning.
Nandi Deputy County Commissioner John Tanui said the suspect accessed the exam center after lying to an invigilator that he had forgotten his identity card at home.
"Later on when the invigilator was going round collecting the papers. It was found that the candidate had written down wrong particulars on the paper, prompting further scrutiny where it was confirmed that the suspect was not a candidate at the center," said Tanui.
It was established that Rono had conspired to sit for the national exam on behalf of 20-year-old Geoffrey Kavulavu, a student who registered last year at the school.
"We raised that alarm and the police intervened and arrested the suspect. The examination officials also suspended the index number of the student. Investigations have been launched to establish the whereabouts of the candidate registered last year, " Tanui added.
Aldai Sub-County Deputy police commander John Owuoth said the suspect is being held at Kobujoi Police Station as investigations and search for Kavulavu continue.
"We are working with the teachers to find out the missing candidate to assist us in the investigation of KCSE malpractice before arraignment of the suspect in court on Monday," said Owuoth.

Extension of corruption. These young people learn these bad behaviors from adults around them.It is a national "disease",perpetuated by greed. We should learn to sacrifice individual gains for the betterment of our community, and society. When one cheats, there is a multiple negative effect.Least of which is passing on this unbecoming behavior ,and thus sustaining the circle.
We as individuals have to do our part. Take self reflection/assessment,and ask yourself if you are doing the right thing. And are you willing,or ready to be punished for your wrong doing,or are you going to blame someone else?
