A Nairobi court has slapped eight Chinese nationals with a fine of Sh50,000 each for working in Kenya without business permits.

The foreigners were arrested in Imara Daima, Nairobi last week in a joint operation conducted by officers from the National Police Service (NPS), and Immigration Department.

Besides the fine, the magistrate’s court ordered the Chinese nationals to regularize their immigration status.

“They were each fined Sh50,000 and issued with a stern warning against engaging in work without permits by the CMs Court Nairobi,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a tweet on Saturday.

The eight include Xie Liguang, Zhang Liyi, Cong Tingting, Qiao Liuping, Zhang Tili, Long Yujie, and Liu Rong.

Police said the suspects were found selling tiles and furniture at UR Home International Kenya along Mombasa Road.

The NPS has urged employers to demand necessary documents from immigrant workers should they decide to hire them in any capacity.

“We caution employers that it is illegal for any foreigner to work in Kenya without a valid work permit,” NPS added.

They only need to bribe I guess. How do they regularize papers in Kenya anyway?

They are honestly more hardworking with better work ethic than available Kenyans without leadership skill & weak decision making ability.

Like I had said before, this is the SECOND colonization of Africa with the guise of unregulated loans and no oversight. Where CHINESE are bringing their Chinese nationals to work in positions that AFRICANS can perform even better. But since our LEADERS are that CORRUPT, and only cares for their own tummies ,the MASSES will continue to suffer.
Now, these CHINESE nationals were doing business illegally, small issue RIGHT??
But the bigger question will the KENYAN business people survive, knowing that China knows how to mass produce and sell for cheap? Isn't this killing the small businesses??
