Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has made his first official foreign trip to the United Kingdom where he will represent President Ruto at the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit.
Mudavadi, who is the third most powerful government official after the president and deputy president, arrived in London on Monday and was received by Kenya's High Commissioner to the UK Manoah Esipisu.
The summit scheduled for December 5th to 6th will bring together heads of government, senior ministers, and business leaders from across the Commonwealth to look at strategies for a just and secure transition to sustainable energy, food security and resilience, health technology and the future of health delivery and of green finance.
"Kenya is a proud member of the Commonwealth since 1963 and remains committed to its ideals and objectives. The Commonwealth assists Kenya, under the Commonwealth Secretariat's Regular Fund formally known as the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC)," Mudavadi's office said in a press release.
The summit organized by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council will be held at the City of London's iconic Mansion House, with participation from all 56 Commonwealth member countries.
It is expected to boost intra-commonwealth trade and investment, resuming trade after the economic setbacks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the spillover effect of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Other topics on the agenda include the evolution of technology, education, public health, youth employment, and collaboration between governments, public and private sectors.
As the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Mudavadi is tasked with overseeing the implementation of national government policies programs and project, chairing the national government legislative agenda across all ministries and state departments, facilitating inter-ministerial coordination of cross initiatives and programs and supervisising and coordinating the technical monitoring and evaluation of government policies and programs across ministries.
