Gov’t Announces Fully-funded Scholarships for Kenyans to Study Abroad

The government has announced fully-funded scholarship opportunities for Kenyans to study undergraduate programs in Slovakia.

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday invited Kenyans seeking to study abroad to apply for 25 programs in Slovak universities for the 2023/24 academic year.

The programs include Teaching, Economics and Management, Agriculture, Wood Science, and Forestry, Public Health, Nursing, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Food Sciences, Transport, and Computer Science.

Successful applicants are only required to cater for a flight ticket to the Central European country.

“The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation expenses and subsistence allowances for the whole duration of studies. The studies will be conducted in the Slovak language following the first year of intensive language preparation,” the ministry said in a notice.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must have a minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) mean grade of B (Plain) and an age limit between 18 -25 years.

“Applicants should have strong grades in the major subjects that are key to the specialty preferred and should have completed Secondary Education in the last three (3) years,” the ministry added.

Other requirements are a valid passport, birth certificate, Curriculum Vitae (CV) and references from two school teachers.

Just wondering aloud how the same gava takes away education subsidy in higher learning institutions yet provides scholarships abroad which is far higher than the former.

Why slovakia? We cannot teach any of these courses in Kenya? How about Free university education and keep the money in Kenya?

This is nuts. What an irony the so called government of Kenya. You can’t even feed your own and you are yapping about scholarships? Oh well, poop hole countries. In Maslow hierarchy of needs, food, shelter etc comes before education or self actualization

Kengen, Kenya Power, Water, Geothermal Development Company, Kenya Pipeline, and other parastatals are now filled with Kalenjins. These courses are designed to create free education to Kalenjins. Mark my words. KANU styles of the 80s, 90s

Mary, Willy, Kithoi and the rest you need to understand the workings of a government. In this case if the government was providing funding why would it be confined to Slovakia? And the reason is because it’s not Kenya government is not funding this program or at least not fully.
Kenya government at moment needs friends and partners like this one to be able to meet part of the economic crisis it’s experiencing. The more workings of course must be undertaken by Kenyans themselves.
