Resign and Save Kenyans from the Repeat Election, Raila Tells President Uhuru

Opposition chief Raila Odinga has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to resign following the "sham election" on August 8th.

Speaking at a press briefing at Okoa Kenya offices in Lavington, Nairobi on Friday, Raila asked the President to save the people of Kenya from a repeat of elections by relinquishing his seat.

"Uhuru and Jubilee should resign and let Kenyans move on. Everything is now clear...he lost," the ODM leader told a press conference. "If I were Uhuru I would just resign and leave this thing. Must you impose yourself on the people of Kenya? Now he is trying to buy individuals," he said. "We urge Jubilee to do the right thing."

He further assured that National Super Alliance (NASA) was ready for discussions with IEBC, when they get ready. Raila added that he will only attend a meeting with the electoral commission if President Uhuru commits to attend. "I will attend the meeting only if the Jubilee candidate will be attending. NASA is ready for any discussion," Raila said.

The NASA principal further alleged that IEBC commissioners' lives were in danger. "They are receiving emails threatening their lives. They are in a dangerous situation."

On Thursday, Raila said Jubilee leaders belong in jail for colluding to rig the August 8th elections. "Shame on you. You should not be standing in front of people and chest-thumping that you won the elections," Raila told the President Uhuru. "You did not win. Allow Kenyans to elect their leaders. You [Uhuru Kenyatta] and DP William Ruto are a big shame."

You know how silly that sounds? Didn't you dance all night when SC ordered a re-election? Don't you remind us every day how the people will vote you in? Why then do you want an easy path to the throne? Or do you have another surprise you want to unleash and are only using these claims to hoodwink us? For heaven's sake this should not even be headline news. Media stop wasting valuable space or bytes.smh.

Those of us who are old enough to remember the history of Kenya since independence, know that two of you are carrying over the hostilities, grudges, and conflicts between your fathers.

Kenya is more than the two communities - The Gikuyu and Luo people. Waswahili have a very profound proverb which says, "Tembo wawili wapiganapo, nyasi ndizo ziumiazo."

I do not belong to either the Luo or Gikuyu people. However, you two have been stepping on me for over several decades that you have turned me into a desert - without grass.

I plead to both of you to step down and let Kenya move on without your constant bickering, insulting each other. Now Uhuru has gone a step further by insulting the judiciary.

Kenya can do very well without you two. Its time both of you work together or disappear into your billion dollar businesses which you inherited from your fathers.

Rao is a narcissist. He only cares about himself.I doubt that he even gives a damn about the people that support him.He is an evil that Kenyans will never allow to rule Kenya. He keeps making these outrageous/crazy request and people at this juncture keep making the mistake of giving in.Kenyans including Key Kenyan Institutions should say NO NO NO NO to him.

@KIM, I disagree that RAO is self centered based on presented evidence, Rao somewhat cares for the majority of us Kenyans! IEBC chairman has confirmed that there were irregularities. If it wasn't for RAO persistence, we wouldn't have known the truth. Look at the facts and be honest with yourself. Mark-you i am a kyuk but honesty and integrity are my values.

RAO, what is “clear” to show Uhuru lost? We know NASA is broke and that is why you are not campaigning. You are now trying to steal the elections by asking your competitor to resign. You, RAO resign to save Kenyans agony. If you do not, on October 17, you will suffer the “Agony of Defeat”. You say “IEBC commissioners’ lives are in DANGER!” Are you the one sending the emails? After you lost on August 8, you said IEBC belongs in jail! Now you say Jubilee belong in JAIL. RAO, which is it?

@Ngozijaluo:

From your writing I can say that you never went beyond the 4th grade education. If you had gone beyond this academic level, your mind would have opened and learned to accept cultural and genetic differences.

I come from a micro-nation that circumcises males. I cannot judge my Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Indian, European brothers who do not circumcise their males based on my ancestral tradition. You are culturally illiterate and should confine your comments among your fellow Gikuyu people. Shame on you!

From your writing, I clearly see that you hate the Luo people. Please have the courage to remember that, had it not been for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who refused to accept the British political design to make him the first Kenyan Prime Minister, Jomo Kenyatta would have vanished into oblivion and died an impoverished beggar on River Road street! It was Raila's father who opened the political door for Kenyatta to be the first Kenyan prime minister.

Our other forgotten hero is the assassinated Thomas Joseph Odhiambo Mboya. This man fought to make it possible for the Gikuyu people to move freely in colonial Kenya. Finally the British ended the emergency declaration that confined the Gikuyu people to move freely in Kenya. On January 12, 1960, the Gikuyu people were allowed by the colonial government to move freely in the entire colony. What gift did he (Mboya) get from the Gikuyu people, they assassinated him on Saturday, July 05, 1969.

Kama Waswahili walivyosema, "Asante ya punda ni mateke."

The Gikuyu and the Kalenjin people have replaced the British people as the new "Wabeberu" to the rest of the Kenyan communities. I warn you, you are creating a situation similar to what happened in Rwanda in 1994. For goodness sake, please stop it!

IEBC should not be allowed to run the election come October 17. This incompetent joint is responsible for giving the Kenyan voters mediocre candidates with closets full of skeletons. The latest example of a mentally deranged cleared candidate is Moses Kuria.
I have listened very carefully his utterances in Gikuyu language and wonder why he has not been arrested! This man is capable of causing major ethnic wars between the Gikuyu and Luo people. The man is illiterate. Kenya is a unique country made up of over 40 distinct micro-nations.
Uhuru is also a mediocre leader who couldn't have made it politically on his own without the hand of dictator, murderer, thief, and criminal toroitich arap moi! Uhuru should have ordered the arrest of Kuria immediately he said words that can bring instability to the many good people of Kenya.
Solution: All public meetings must be conducted in Kiswahili. The elections must be postponed in order to reconstruct a new election agency devoid of mediocrity as seen in the current IEBC. Kenya desperately needs a competent leader. Neither Raila nor Uhuru can fill the current vacuum of exemplary leadership

Raila Odinga: I think you should not only respect Jubilee Party but Salute them! They could have caused chaos if they wanted, but they respected all Kenyans and proclaimed peace for the whole nation.

If this case was vice versa, would you have acted peacefully the way jubilee are moving forward peacefully? Absolutely NO! You like to see chaos in our nation. What about you surrender and this will prevent the country from spending Billions of money.

What have you done from your own pocket to help your supporters in the slums of Kisumu and Kibera, honestly?

Nothing seem to satisfy you!

He wants it on the platter. Odinga is carrying too heavy a burden to be able to govern fairly . he has too much personal issues he terms wrongs done to his family an to put right .Reason he want us to give him WIN for free. This makes it scary. If he wins square that is ok ( will of the people) forcing a win makes him no different from his competitor

Raila has zero respect for the law and believes he can simply be declared winner without an election. But even Maraga, the stickler for constitutional order and law, will not support that. Raila is just a hateful, bitter old man who does not weigh his words and yet expects respect from his younger competitors and Kenyans in general. Sad.
