Raila Calls Off anti-IEBC Demos Until Further Notice

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has called off its nationwide anti-IEBC demonstrations until further notice.

In a statement by Nasa leader Raila Odinga, the coalition said it would give further instructions to its supporters regarding the protests after the Mashujaa Day celebrations this Friday.

Reports indicate that the decision was arrived at following the death of a number of opposition supporters during the demos against the electoral commission over the past weeks.

In the press statement, Raila accused acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matinag’i and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet of “facilitating security officers to execute a murderous expedition against unarmed and innocent civilians”.

“In honour of the innocent victims of the State, our protests will stay suspended. On Friday, we will mark the memory of these victims as heroes of the struggle for electoral justice at a venue to be disclosed later. On that day, we shall communicate our next course of action,” said Raila.

Raila called for the end of the brutality by the police, saying it was taking the country backwards. “The government must stop this alliance between thugs and security officers and the unconstitutional and reckless deployment of troops to annihilate NASA supporters,” he said.

On Tuesday, the High Court temporarily suspended government ban on anti-IEBC protests in Nairobi Mombasa and Kisumu CBDs issued by Matiang'i last week pending the determination of a case filed by NASA CEO Norman Magaya.

The big story is the untold. Raila and Kalonzo were sued at the ICC last week. The wicked demos in the NASA strongholds are at Raila’s calling. Sixty seven Kenyans have been killed as a result. Then you have the cache of weapons recovered at the Wanjigi residencies; the main financier of NASA. Add one plus one and the answer is not two but something bigger. To conceal the potential agenda and outcome of these actions, what else can a cunning man do? Tell me!

Extremely corrupt judicial system in kenya. Corrupt Maraga opened the can of worms for all this nonsense. Just wait until uluru gets back. We need an overhaul of judicial systems. Waizi wote...

@Mwangi.The Supreme Court Justices really do need to stop being irresponsible. They are responsible for opening the can of worms that we are witnessing at this present time.Long term, I think that the Kenyan Public needs to consider taking away from the supreme court the power to annul elections.I give credit to the jubilee party for managing the current situation. However the country should never take this risk again. Annulling an election on corrupt grounds (such as stealing the clear 1.4M will of the Kenyan electorate, on behalf of a chaos causing demagogue)could potentially throw the country into a very unstable situation. The country needs for the supreme court to take a minimalist/conservative approach towards overturning the will of the Kenyan electorate in an election.

I just wonder why/how judge Mwilu could decide a case prosecuted by her husband,Amos Wako.Did Mwilu give a ruling as per Wako's instructions?Wacheni kutufanya wanjinga.Maraga must explain why Mwilu judged her husband's case. There is no dought Mwilu brokered an illegal deal. How much did the Maraga gang earn from NASA?

I can predict the court system being found useless and lack any substance in future. People will disobey any court rulings and it will be useless. Maraga had caused severe injury to our judicial system and this courts are now ruling with more merits or facts.. it's a big shame to our country right now. Never in history has any justice annulled presidential elections in this way shape and form. Maraga and his criminal four should go down as the world corrupt judicial justices with their ruling..

Back in my Old village, supremacy battles were settled through non-violent wrestling contests (sometimes instigated by other lads). There were no referees (if you dared to referee, then you became the next target on the list). Cheering was allowed during the wrestling not after winner and loser were declared. The winner was determined in a rather bizarre but an ever binding process. To win you had to floor the other guy and pin them down until they themselves declared that you are the winner (by them acknowledging publicly that they had lost). Until one party said something like "get off me", there was no winner. The moral of the story is JP keep you feet firmly on the ground, your thing is working.
