President Uhuru Visits Ailing Veteran Politician Kenneth Matiba
President Kenyatta on Sunday visited former multi-party crusader Kenneth Matiba, who is admitted at Nairobi hospital.
" Visited my friend Kenneth Matiba, former Minister, who is convalescencing at a Nairobi hospital," the President posted on his Facebook page.
The head of state had in 2013 paid a similar visit to the veteran politician, who was admitted at the Karen Hospital. The 84-year-old has been ailing since 2007.
The former cabinet minister was one of the many Kenyans who suffered during President Moi's regime after being detained at Kamiti Maximum Prison without trial.
Matiba was diagonized with serious stroke in 1991, but remained in detention without medication for about one week. Recently, he was awarded over Sh500 million as compensation for the torture he was subjected to in the hands of state agents while in prison. The compensation is arguably the highest awarded to a victim of state torture in the country.

This is the real,silent and honorable veteran. The ones who keep yapping in our ears about the struggle are a joke.This man made the ultimate sacrifice which he is still suffering for. Went to detention as a self made multimillionaire came out a poor man. He sacrificed everything including his health. Get well soon Matiba.

There was no ULTIMATE Sacrifice here. INSTEAD Kiambu Mafia (Matiba's Traitors) and the Nyayo Regime are ones UNWARRANTEDLY did the Ultimate DAMAGE to Matiba (and not Matiiba's Sacrifice). Matiba never said "Kibaki Tosha" (to the Downing of KANU). Raila is the one that YAPPED "Kbaki Tosha".

Matiba, you are the the face of multi party in Kenya. From Saba saba movement you faced real torture unlike some people from bondo who can't even stand the smell of teargas. We should honor your sacrifice. Some bondo wana be freedom fighters is time for them to hang the boots and shut their squirky beaks..
