Chaos Erupt in Nairobi as NASA Youth Protest the Arrest of Miguna Miguna
Chaos broke out along Southern Bypass and a section of Kibera in Nairobi after rowdy youth blocked roads and lit bonfires to protest the arrest of former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna.
The self-proclaimed Nasa's National Resistance Movement (NRM) general was dramatically arrested after police raided his home in Runda estate, Nairobi on Friday morning.
The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti said Miguna was arrested for taking part in an illegal swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga, being a member of NRM - which was recently declared a criminal group, as well as calling for the burning of portraits of a legally elected President.
“Miguna publicly declared that he is the general of NRM, which is already declared a proscribed group. By the time he declared publicly, there was a gazette notice by the minister. How can we let it go? We are law enforcers,” said Kinoti.
“He also said he is going to lead people to burn portraits of a democratically elected president. Then what do you expect from us? He also confessed he is the one who administered the oath,” added Kinoti.
Miguna, together with Ruaraka Member of Parliament Tom Joseph Kajwang’ administered oath on Raila during the ceremony held at Uhuru Park grounds.
“The police have bombed their way into my house. I can’t speak on the phone right now. They have ransacked the house!!” Miguna tweeted minutes before he was taken in.
“Some are still hiding in the compound and my house hoping that I make a move so that they can shoot me and claim that there was a ‘shootout!’ I’m staying put! We need our youth here in large numbers!! 486 Runda Meadows!” read another tweet.

They are causing bloodshed in our nation. They should all be prisoners and I support the government 100% for doing their job.
