President Kenyatta Kin among Suppliers Who Pocketed Millions from the NYS

It has now emerged that President Kenyatta's kin was among suppliers who pocketed millions of shillings from the National Youth Service (NYS).

Petrokenya Oil Company Limited, a company linked to Uhuru's uncle,  Paul Gathecha Muhoho was paid Sh68 million this year after supplying diesel to the youth agency.

Details obtained by The Standard show that the tender to supply the fuel was won by Horizon Limited, a firm owned by Ben Gethi, one of the suspects adversely mentioned in the first NYS scandal involving Sh791 million.

Horizon then contracted Petrokenya to supply the product, but a legal battle ensued over nonpayment between the two firms. However, after the court tussle, Petrokenya was eventually paid Sh68 million.

Mr Gathecha is the younger brother to President Kenyatta's mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta. He is the father to former Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Nyokabi.

Gacheha is a co-director at Petrokenya alongside businessman Evans Gor Semelang'o. Gor is a former chairman of the Youth Fund.

Mr Semelango controls 53 per cent of the company, while Gathecha holds 47 per cent share. Documents show the company was paid the cash after supplying 500,000 litres of diesel, translating to Sh104.4 per litre.

The payment was approved by Bernard Masiga, a senior finance director in the Ministry of Public Service and Youth Affairs and Principal Secretary Lillian Mbogo-Omollo.

Ms. Omollo and Masiga are among several state officials and businesspersons currently facing various charges in the Sh9 billion scandal at the NYS.

However, there is nothing to suggest that the payments made to Petrokenya were improper.

As the former governor of Machakos Ndugu Alfred Mutua said the other day in Swahili language, " Kikulacho Ki Nguoni mwako."

So the boy wonder has relatives who are pilfering state coffers as he engages in anti corruption gimmicks.
