Ohio Man Drinks Only Beer During Lent, Loses More Than 30 Pounds

A man from Ohio has decided to break Lent traditions by consuming only beer during the 46-day period.

During Lent, Christians, especially Roman Catholic faithful, usually give up alcohol until the period elapses.

Del Hall from Ohio has announced he will be drinking only beer during the 46-day period in a bid to lose weight.

Hall first announced his decision in February, declaring that he would consume only beer between Ash Wednesday and Easter.

“Weirdest thing is my dreams, I have been dreaming about food every night,” Hall said, adding that he would be taking beer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

He says he is following the lead of monks in the 1600s, who would fast during Lent by a bock beer diet.

“That would be their liquid bread, and basically it would sustain them through 46 days of Lent,” Hall says.

Hall says that he wants to prove to himself that it is possible to have beer only during the entire season and will be documenting his diet on social media as he keeps track of his weight.

“I’m an army veteran I was number one in my class in the army, I’ve run a full marathon before 26.2 miles I’ve done big challenges but this seems very daunting so I’m just curious if I’m up to the challenge, if I’m going to be able to do it or not.”

A few weeks to Easter, the man has already lost more than 33 pounds.
