Seven People Arrested with Millions of Fake US Dollars in Nairobi

Seven people have been arrested in Nairobi with millions of fake United States Dollars.

The suspects were apprehended by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sleuths in Nairobi's Kilimani area on Saturday.

The DCI says detectives acting on intelligence reports launched a sting operation in the area, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The seven suspects have been identified as Stephen Mark, Noah Amollo, Ian Otieno, Jotham Mugo, Joseph Majanga, Peter Otieno and Kevin Otieno.

“We arrested seven suspects and recovered millions of fake US Dollars after a sting operation in Kilimani area,” says the DCI.

The seven will be arraigned in court and charged on Monday.

The latest arrest comes two weeks after 14 suspects were nabbed with counterfeit currency and fake gold in Nairobi.

Eight of them were arrested in Lang'ata area in possession of millions of fake US Dollars and 100kg of fake gold.

The suspects included one Congolese national, two Tanzanians, one Nigerian and four Kenyans.

The scale of financial crimes in Kenya is astounding. The country has been invaded by all sorts of criminals and they are running amok. Criminals from all over the world find Kenya an easy place to work since the chances of being caught are very slim.

Kenyans have now become so greedy that I don’t know where we’re headed to. If such vices are not stopped, Kenya has no future.
