Suspect Behind Kidnapping of Two School Girls Gunned Down in Kiandutu Slums

A suspected kidnapper has been shot dead in Kiandutu slums in Thika, Kiambu County.

Confirming the incident, Kiambu County Police Commander Ali Nuno says a pistol containing four rounds of ammunition was recovered during the operation.

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Dennis Kimani Mwitheri alias Denoo, who Nuno describes as a “dangerous criminal.”

Nuno says the suspect was traced to his home following the abduction of two girls from Kenyatta Secondary School in Makongeni, Thika last Wednesday.

“The girls’ parents reported them missing on May 2nd and, following intense investigations by our officers, they were traced to the suspect’s house in Kiandutu,” says Nuno.

Police officers traced the criminal after members of the public said they spotted him with the abducted students in the sprawling slum.

Nuno says the suspect fired at unarmed police officers but they overpowered him and fatally gunned him down using his own pistol.

He also says the deceased was part of a criminal gang that has been terrorizing Thika residents for long.

The last 2 paragraphs of this story is kinda not adding up. Ati he (the criminal) was shooting at unarmed police officers, non of them got shot, they overpowered him. Kwani that pistol was shooting gas? Oops, l forgot, they took the pistol from him and used it to kill him. 🤔

Okay...Its a bit risky for unarmed police officers to confront a LIVE hostage situation. Such situations are dangerous and despite the fact that the cops in this case got lucky, they need to review their operational procedure

It was EXERLLENT job saving the poor girls but it's not making sense " overpowered by unarmed police me..". Why then could they not arrest him and bring him to justice?. Those judges, magistrate and prosecutors need work to do. That is why they are there.

Am sure these secondary school girls eloped with the guy to hold & mess with his "real gun".When they didn't return home, the parents panicked and notified the police.Trigger happy police shoots the guy, plants the pistol on his ass and the rest is history. How can you explain disarming a guy shooting at you????
