Two Charged in Court for Using Mama Ngina Kenyatta's Name to Con Woman of Sh250,000

Two people were on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly using the name of former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta to con unsuspecting individuals.
Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot, Irene Wanjiku Njeri and Fredrick Kinani were charged with obtaining money through false pretense and conspiracy to defraud.
The two are accused of conspiring to defraud Mary Wanjiku of Sh250,000 by falsely pretending they were in a position to help her children join Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
Additionally, the two are accused of pretending they were in a position to help the said children get jobs in Germany through Mrs. Kenyatta.
First accused person, Njeri pleaded for lenient bond terms claims she is a single mother and her children are sick at the moment.
The second accused person, Kinani said he is the sole breadwinner to seven children while pleading with the court for leniency.
The two denied the charges leveled against them and were released on Sh100,000 cash bail each.
The matter will be mentioned on August 13th, 2019.
