Gov’t to Count Kenyan Intersex Community in Next Month’s Population Census

The government is set to collect data on intersex people during the national population census scheduled for next month, making Kenya the first country in the continent to do so.

For the first time in the country’s history, the decennial survey will determine the number of Kenyan citizens who do not classify themselves as either male or female, according to BBC.

The move is set to be a major victory for rights activists who have been on the forefront calling for equal treatment of intersex people, who face violence and discrimination in Kenya.

Unofficial data quote the number of intersex people in Kenya at over 700,000 out of the about 49 million Kenyans.

"Getting information about intersex people in the census will help people understand the challenges we go through," Ryan Muiruri, founder of the Intersex Persons Society of Kenya (IPSK), told the BBC as he welcomed the government's decision.

"Being included in the census is a big achievement for us," he added.

In 2009, a Kenyan woman moved to court after doctors wrote a question mark instead of gender on her child's birth papers.

In her suit, the woman sought to get identity documents for her kid to be able to attend school, a law preventing surgery on intersex children unless it is medically necessary and proper information and psychological support for parents with such children.

The High Court, in a landmark ruling in 2014, ordered the government to issue a birth certificate to the five-year-old child. The court also ordered the Attorney-General to create a task force that would look at ways of providing better support for intersex children.

In its report to the Attorney-General in April, the task force recommended delaying surgery until children can choose for themselves and a robust survey on numbers. It also suggested that an I-marker, an intersex identifier, be used in public documentation.

The census, which will be carried out electronically on August 24th and 25th, will be Kenya's first-ever paperless population tally.

Well, well. Here we go becoming copy cats and purposely destroying the whole fabric of our society. Where are we headed? Sodom and Gomora in the name of "Human Rights ". We are slowly following in the footsteps of "Babylon the Great".
As for churches, just go to "www.gaychurch.org. There you will find in the west 87,000 churches affirming same sex marriage.
In "Babylon the Great" toilets are now for both Male and female. The moral bankruptcy of the Western Christianity is on full display and Africans who do not know who they are cannot wait to consume and identify with it. This will be our downfall. As Babylon the Great gets destroyed according to bible prophecy, so will those of us who have become part and parcel of it.
At what point do we say NO? Is it men sleeping with men, women sleeping with women; men and animals; women with animals; men/women with corpses; men/women with their daughters/sons/mothers/ grandmothers/grandchildren. Where does it stop?
Whatever they count, ultimately Kenyan's will have to decide, not the fake foreign law whether to live under those conditions.
We will have to decide to follow God's law not man's law.

Solution to all these confusion: Is to move back to our languages. The languages will fully give us the definition of who is who and will fully identify individuals. Our languages are complete and not lacking.
As long as we are using a colonizers language, he will always come up with new names and definitions to fit his narrative and self interest. According to Carl Darling Buck (1916) "A people without a language of it's own is half a nation". " Language is one conspicuous banner of nationality, to be defended against encroachment, as it is the first item of attack on the part of a power aiming to crush out a distinction of a nationality among its subject peoples".
We will be crushed with foreign culture and customs because our leaders have failed to elect a local language to be our national, official and only language. How can we be using a colonizers language after 50 years of independence in our schools? When our constitution says no to new definition of marriage and love, they become more creative and crafty, and use our people as the front faces to carry on the evil and destructive agenda of our families and societies.
Now the definition of man, woman and their relationship is about to be changed. Schools will start teaching new words, and they will make money with new useless books as we destroy our cultures. Books defining insex; homosexual;bisexual and all major of other sexual that they are going to come up with. It's time to let them teach their people in their languages and we teach our people in ours.
